Christmas Party question

How does it work for Christmas parties and the reservation system? Does your christmas party ticket automatically get you into MK without a park ticket that day or do you need both? I thought we would start off the day in MK, take a mid day rest and then go back to the party in the evening.
I am now reconsidering and think we would rather start the day in Hollywood studios, do a half day, take a rest and then go to the Christmas party in MK. Is this possible? If so, how.
I've never been to Disney World, and this is for 20022 btw.

In order to get into a park during the day, you need a park ticket and a park reservation. A Christmas party ticket only gets you into MK at 7 pm with the party starting at 9 pm. If you would like to start your day at HS, you need a park ticket and reservation for HS. At 7 pm, you can enter MK with just the party ticket.

Ok so I’ve made all my park reservations and I made a reservation for Hollywood studios the day of the Christmas party, we will do a half day at HS and then go to the Christmas party at night. Thanks!

How do you know what day there will be a Christmas Party?

I looked back on historic dates…it seems like every year inc. 2021 there has been one on the third Tuesday of November. We are aiming for that. Of course I’ll have to potential change some reservations around when the party is announced this year.
