Please forgive me if this has been asked and answered before, but I did a search and googled, and could not find an answer :(

We are going on a cruise this December and will be in Disney for one day on December 6th, which is my Birthday :cool1: and it happens to be the Parade taping day. I would LOVE to see that for my birthday, but not sure of a plan of action :confused3

Do we need a special ticket to attend? Can we just go and line up for the parade? How early should we go? What is the best way to do this?

Sorry for all the questions, please help me make this one day really special!

Thank you so much for all your help, really appreciate it!

Sorry, but I think you'd be really disappointed in what you see in MK that day

NOT much "parade" happens.

Last year on the Saturday parade taping day, the taping of the parade segments lasted until 4 p.m. Performers on the Castle stage, Neyo and The Wanted, also had their segments taped that day.

The selected/invited parade spectators were in the park by 7:00 a.m. Neil Patrick Harris' opening number was taped that morning and most regular park guests stayed to get a glimpse of him throughout the day.

What do you mean by "selected/invited" spectators?

They bring in paid actors and selected non-paid CMs to be in the first few rows along the parade route and at the Castle stage. In this way, they can control the clothing and "look" of those watching the parade - provides a good "show" when telecast.

But there are still plenty of guests in the crowd there as well, correct? I've read the Main Street area is packed with guests (while if you get back to the rides, it's pretty easy to get on the rides).

What if you aren't there by 7? And what if you are in an ecv, is there anyplace for you to go then? Also, is there something special you should be wearing? My DD24 wants to try this that day.

Regular park guests are able to line up but they won't be in the front. The regular guests enter the park at regular park opening after the others have been directed to their locations.

Spectators have always been advised to wear Christmas colors and clothing - especially Disney-related Christmas clothing.

So would you suggest being there at 7am? Does the taping begin first thing in the morning? How long does it last? Wonder if possible to get there early morning for the taping, have a afternoon break and come back for extra magic hours?

As a regular guest, you'll be allowed to enter at regular park opening, which, according to MDX, is at 9:00. So, if you want to be at the front of the tapstile line, you may want to get in line relatively early but at 7:00, regular park guests will not be allowed to enter.

Leaving the park and then returning would work as long as you are not a spectator located in an area where they do not want you to leave. They do ask some areas/guests to remain in their spots because of the number of tapings/re-tapings that tediously may occur. That's why Robo suggests that it isn't the most desirable experience for a park visit.

Thank you so much for your help! We will give it a try and if it is too crazy for our liking we can always leave:thumbsup2

Interesting thread! What if you just want to visit the park that day and steer clear of the parade, do rides? Still crazy?

No, not crazy. When you enter the park, you'll be directed around Main Street through backstage areas to get to the land of your choice.

I'm sure it will depend on who is hosting the show as to the crowd levels on Main Street. The host has yet to be named.
