Christmas Parade Taping

Does anyone have any updated info on the daily schedule for the parade taping on Nov. 4-6? Just trying to figure out when things will get crazy on Main St.

Hi, I kinda have a question to add to your post. those are the dates I will be at Disneyland, AND never have been there when they're taping a parade or anything like that. What can we expect? thanks!

There was a post or two and discussion about this a week or so ago, but I can't find it now. I remember being very interested in it, since we're scheduled to be there during that time. Anyway, they had a link to a blog written about the experience in 2009 (when the blogger actually wanted to witness the taping). The woman went for 3 days straight, and was told wrong information about what was happening when each day by various CMs. My guess is that even if they leaked a schedule, they wouldn't follow it. People say the parade itself clogs up Main Street, but the rest of the park is unaffected. They recommend taking the train around the park if you need to get to the exit from one of the lands (which won't work for us, since DH uses an ECV and the Main Street station is not H/A).

Yeah, I read that thread. My main concern is that we have 10 am ressie at Plaza Inn on Sat. I don't know if parade taping will start that early & it will be difficult to get to the restaurant.

You shouldn't have any trouble getting to the Plaza Inn...or anywhere else in the park for that matter.

I was there for the taping on Nov. 7 last year, and making your way up-and-down Main Street was no different from any other time when the parade is running. Yes, you are slowed down because all traffic is routed to the sidewalks along the shops--so the narrower sidewalks create a slower pace. But at no time was traffic completely stopped for the parade. If you've ever walked down Main Street while a parade is passing by, it's pretty much the same experience.

However, as you mentioned, the schedule is a complete unknown and the taping may not impact Main Street at all in the morning--beyond people camping out spots along route. Last year, my picture of the first parade unit coming down Main Street was just after 1pm. I believe most of the morning was spent taping the musical performance on the temporary stage in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. The schedule can be completely different this year, but you may conveniently located for the taping after you're done with your breakfast at the Plaza Inn.
