So this may sound dumb but we were at WDW in July and noticed that the options for Christmas ornaments in the Days of Christmas store was sparse. We buy a new ornament every year that we can personalize but we didn't find much that we hadn't seen there the year before. I know that it's still not close to Christmas but I got a little nervous. We are going back in mid November and we are hoping to see the new items. I guess my question is.....should we expect Disney to have a bunch of new items? With the way they have cut back on new original merchandise, I can't help but wonder if this is going to happen in the Christmas dept too.

Yes.

That said... who knows?

Keep an eye on easyWDW. Josh always does posts for new Halloween and Christmas merchandise, meaning plenty of pictures. He just did the Halloween one yesterday.

Since I never go in the summer, I was a little surprised at the limited options so I didn't know if anyone had insight on if this is what we need to expect or if we will see a much larger selection.

We buy lots of Christmas Decorations.
We have a L O T of experience in these matters. (See photo below.)
But, what we never know is what Disney will or won't add on any given year.

Love that picture, Robo! But I'm curious. Where are the light swags plugged in?

I thought the selection was rather light as well. They had the new 'puffy dress' princesses, and one or two new character ornaments, but not nearly the selection of mickey head ornaments as I saw last fall. I am going back in December so hopefully they have some more good selections but the Disney Store line of sketchbook ornaments is very good this year so you might want to check those out.

They all group together at the top-center of the louvered panels that hold the stained glass.
I open the panels and close them around the light strings.
The lights are then connected to an outlet behind the panels.

The previous image is a time-exposure photo so the Disney characters on the right-hand speaker cabinet are blurry due to their motion.
The streaks of light are from an electric train with lighted Christmas lights on the cars.
The train moves fast enough to disappear in the time-esposure, leaving only the trail of light.

Below is a standard-exposure of the same room (this time with the regular ceiling lights on) so you can better see the stained glass and so many more of the "moving" items.

Love your decorations. Cable car looks awesome and so does the high wire Donald.

We have gone multiple times between the November and January time frame and always buy a Christmas ornament. I have noticed new items each time but the majority seems the same (or very similar) to previous visits.
