Christmas ornaments

I get my kids and my god-daughter a presonalized and dated ornament every year. I find them at different places, sometimes I add the names myself.

In the past I've ordered from Bronners (www.bronners.com) or bought Hallmark or whatever other ornaments I thought were appropriate :) I'm not brand loyal.

This year for our ornaments dh is actually getting two. He's getting one military one with his years of service (he gets out Dec 7!!! :lovestruc) and he's getting one of the ones that I got for each of us. For each of us I got this small stocking ornament that a friend of mine made. They're made from an Okinawan cloth and they look like Christmas stockings with "Okinawa 2007-2010" written on the toe. They're just adorable! And I wanted something for us to say goodbye to Okinawa with :)

I started this for my two daughters when they were born. They are now 40 and 42 yrs old. They still want the ornaments. They have kept them over the years and it is neat to see them on their trees every year. I also have 6 grandchildren I do this for. What I started aboutl 8 yrs ago was ordering the porcelain ornament from Kodak or Disney that I pick a pic I want on it. When we go to Disney I pick a fav moment of that person at Disney. Other years order from Kodak and pick a pic that was a special time for each person. I do one for the in-laws also. So I make about 12 of these a year. But they really enjoy them

I do this same exact tradition every year too. :thumbsup2
I usually get them from the Hallmark store. I can usually get them for $10 to $20. A little more expensive but they have selections that actually have to do with them.

DS6 last year received a bookbag ornanment that held a picture since it was his first year of school. This year they have an ornament that has a little woodland creature beaver maybe :confused3 that sings "All I want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth." since he lost his first 3 teeth this year.

DH just gets their superhero  ornament which I can usually get on clearance the year before during after Christmas sales.

But I also check out Target, Boscov's, etc. Since last year I was lost with DD2 I did manage to find her a puppy and little kid ornament at Target since we got a new puppy and she seemed to be his biggest fan. Suprisingly it was on an endcap with the stationary department far away from the hoilday section.

Hallmark is my first stop though since they seem to have "occasion" ornaments and then I go from there.

Oh my goodness Iam soo glad I read your post!!! I have a two front teeth missing child right now and I always buy them an ornament that represents them or what they are into!! Have been looking for a plush that sings that too-if anyone has seen one this year! THANK YOU!

I do this every year as well. I actually will be ordering the kids theirs next week from bronners. We sometimes go there and pick them up but this year we will order them.

DS9 will get a hockey one
DD6 gymanstics
DS11 soccer
DH soccer coach

We are also getting my father inlaw the John Wayne ornament because he loves the "Duke" and my kids saw it in the Bronners catalog and said we had to buy it for Grandpa.

My kids look forward to seeing what ornament they get every year.

Having done this same thing for all my kids for over 25 years....I have to say, the photo ornaments are my favorite, as well as all 4 of my kids favorites. They love looking at past ornaments that have their pictures. I have lots of Hallmark and other ornaments too, related to something they liked at that particular time, which can be fun to go down memory lane also.

I agree!

I love Bronners and Personal Creations. I too do whatever they are into or is going on in their lives and definitely Disney if we are there. We always by a vacation ornament anywhere we are, even if it is just the shore. Bronners has unique stuff, I got my DD11 a smiley with braces as she got hers on this year and my DD8 First Holy Communion as she made that in May.

Here is the link to the braces-it is so darn cute-I would have never thought of that unless I saw it on their website and am so happy because it has been a big part of this year getting them and getting used to them

Also, I always take a sharpie and write their name and year somewhere on the ornament itself, fun when they are on the tree to look at them all!

Love this tradition!
