Christmas or Halloween

I know you get this question a lot.

My family (DH, DS7, DD4) is going to Disneyland one Saturday in Oct. and one Saturday in Dec to see the decorations. So the first question is if you had to choose what party would you go to and why?(DH said he is only paying extra for one party) Another question is which park (DL or DCA) has better decorations for each holiday? Thanks so much.

The Halloween parties are not on Saturday and I doubt if the Christmas ones will be either. Are you thinking of going on a Friday night?

As the pp mentioned there are no Halloween parties on Saturdays. They are on Tuesdays and Fridays. As for Christmas parties, there has been no official word that there will be any. Which, doesn't mean there won't, it just means as of now they haven't announced any. Christmas has a lot more decorations, but I think either season is a magical time to be at the parks.

I feel like if I could only do one party, I would do the Halloween one (especially since we don't know if there will be any for Christmas), but I prefer the Christmas decorations to the Halloween ones. I also think nothing beats Disneyland's Christmas decorations on Main St. :)

So far, there is no Christmas party at DLR. I think we will get one in the future but I don't know if it will be this year.

Other than that, Christmastime is so much more detailed and immersive. It's much more of a whole experience throughout the entire Resort. Halloween has some nice decorations and it's fun, but it doesn't even come close to the detail and all-encompassing magic that the holidays offer.

I would definitely do a Christmas trip over Halloween and the Halloween party, if I had to make a choice.

ETA: DL definitely has a more Christmasy feel to it than DCA during the holidays because of all the decorations, though DCA is nice, too. But during HalloweenTime this year, DL seems to be the only place that will have much in the way of Halloween touches!!

I highly doubt we will see Christmas parties this year. I would think we would've heard something by now....of course we are talking about Disney here....:rolleyes1

I'd choose Christmas.

But then again, this year is the first time since Disney started decorating for Halloween that I'm going to see the decorations/overlays...so, I can't compare the two in terms of activities/decorations yet.

The reason I say I'd choose Christmas in spite of not knowing yet how much I'll like the Park's Halloween decorations/overlays is this: I've experienced DLR during the holidays for many, many years, and it'd make me sad to miss out on it. So, if you can only go one time during the year, I can wholeheartedly reccomend going during the holidays...there's nothing else like it! They have a parade, and special holiday fireworks that end with "snow" falling down from the sky. And Santa Claus & his (real) reindeer. And all the holiday treats, like gingerbread cookies with chocolate dipped Mouse ears, and candy canes, and elaborately themed "Nightmare Before Christmas" and just "normal" holiday themed desserts (ie: chocolate/peppermint yule log!). Not to mention all the gorgeous lights & decorations.

I also would pick Christmas over Halloween (and I love Halloween!) There's something seriously magical about Christmas at DLR. Just the little touches everywhere ... it really does feel like the "real world" has melted away and you are living the magic :)

I always choose Christmas over Halloween.

It is always special during the Christmas season.

I do not see the OP asking which holiday is better. In fact, the OP even stated they are going for BOTH holidays. The questions I see are: 1) which party is better? 2) which park has better decorations for each holiday?

As for the questions asked:
1) there is no Christmastime party at DLR, so that's easy: Mickeys Trick or Treat.
2) IMO, Disneyland, for both holidays.
