We are trying to decide about going early oct. for the halloween party or late nov. early dec. for the christmas party? I am looking for the pro's and cons of each and any little secrets or special things that people have found out from going at these times of year.

I was having the same problem, so now I'm just getting an AP, and going Dec 2006, and Oct 2007.

We have been to MVMCP the past two years. This year we are going for MNSSHP. I love Disney at Christmas and enjoy all of the holiday activities that Disney offers....the candlelight processional, the osborne lights, the decorations, snow on Main Street, etc. I don't know what halloweentime offers, but it seems like a nice change this time. I do know that there is costuming and trick-or-treating to be done, though. And this time we might actually be able to enjoy the pools/water park.

But my husband and son preferred the Halloween party - probably cuz of the "free" candy.

Thoughts on MNSSHP (we went 10/27/05):
Weather was warm enough to swim that week
It was great to see all the costumes
Trick-or-treating was the BEST!
The parade was awesome

Thoughts on MVMCP (we went Dec. 04)
It was COLD!!!!!!
The decorations are beautiful

Crowds were manageable for both, although a little heavier for MVMCP (we went on a Sun. night I think, vs Thu. night for MNSSHP). We didn't get to any of the shows for each party, which I regret.

Overall I'd say you have to go to both, although there seems to be more to see/do during Dec. I enjoyed both parties, so do one a year if you have to.
My only tip is to get to the park early on the day of your party - any time after 4 PM, so you can get the most out of your tkts. Oh, and buy the tkts ahead of time to save $$.

We have done both on several occassions, and prefer the Halloween party. It is fun to see all of the different costumes and the weather is MUCH warmer. We have found that the closer the party date is to the actual date of Halloween or Christmas, the more crowded the event.

Went to MVMCP in 2000 and again this year and went to MNSSHP in 2004. My kids prefer the MNSSHP because of the trick or treating. Both were a blast. My tips are
1) Go to MK the day of the party. I hear you can get in early but found that the days of the parties MK is very empty because of the short hours.
2) Go on a Tuesday. We have gone all to all three on a Tuesday because Monday and Wed. typically are days the park is open normal hours (no party) and the crowds tend to be smaller.
3) Don't do the first parade. The last two parties we saw the later parade and it was less crowded and we were able to get a place right in front of the castle. This is good as well because it seems most people go get a place for the parade and then wait, so this is usally a good time to hit rides.
4) This year it was really hard to get party t-shirts in emporium, but I heard that other people had an easier time in other areas of the park, so check your map as you come in.
5) If you can, stay to the end. After about 10 the place is a ghost town.

Thanks these ideas will reall come in handy Im writing them all down to keep for the trip :goodvibes :goodvibes
If we go in late nov. I am hoping that we can go to the party on my ds 6th bday :lovestruc

We did the MNSSHP this past Oct, and the MVMCP last year. I didn't think I'd be as happy with the Halloween party, but the parade was AWESOME! There were less crowds, too. And, on Nov 1st when we went to the parks---they were decorated for xmas! So, I still got pics of our boys by the trees.

I have to say, you can't go wrong with either one! Just make the costumes for MNSSHP easy to ride in.
