Hi all. We (DW, DD, DS & myself) have booked to stay in studio at SSR (our first trip home as DVC members) from 16Dec to 31Dec.

We would be very pleased to hear your ideas as to where to book for Christmas day lunch and also any other ideas of must do's over the Christmas period either on or off Disney.

I have booked Mickeys Very Merry Xmas party (20Dec) and looking at a sleigh ride, Discovery Cove, trip to watch Tampa Bay Lightening (assuming the NHL dispute doesn't carry on) as well as trying to get round all the DVC on-site resorts to see what they are like and view their decorations. We have been 4 times before so have done most of the park stuff.
Thanks for your help.

Book a Candlelight Processional dinner package. Spend a day just going to all of the resorts to see and photograph the special Christmas decorations. Don't miss special finale for Illuminations. See Osborne lights.

we were at ssr last new years and new years eve ssr had a party at the quiet pool, handing out party hats, horns, noise makers, sold icecream, drinks, played family games and then everyone went down to the fireworks viewing area, we sat on the hill leading down to the waterway. we were right across from PLI, the fireworks were awesome , it felt like the fireworks were right over you. we could have used our sunglasses :rotfl: :flower: :wizard: :cool1: we had a good time

For Christmas meals... We (dd17) had Christmas lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern and dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe. Both had special "Christmas" meals. Of the two, we preferred LTT... enough that we plan on Thanksgiving there this year.

My vote is for Liberty Tree Tavern at MK. We were there last Dec 10-16 and had diner here the nite of MVMCP. The food was great, the cost reasonable (for wdw) and the charactors came by the table frequently. Its served family style - you get salad, turkey, ham, sliced beef, mash potatoes w/gravy (it even had lumps in it like mom used to make) and veggie, also mac & cheese. then warm apple crisp with van. ice cream for dessert.
Already booked dinner for this coming december.

Seems like you have a pretty busy vacation planned without mentioning the parks once.

Have Fun.

Please report on Discovery cove, i have been wanting to go there but no one in my family will go with me and i want to share this experience. Also pack layers, it got down to the 30's one nite and pretty darn chilly rest of them

Hey neighbor. My family and i are making our first trip home at ssr for the day after christmas.Actually we will be down there on dce.26-dec.31st.We hope to see you down at the resort.Hey it looks like they have finally settled the NHL dispute.I am a huge hockey fan i am a season ticket holder for a minor hockey league team here in the states called the providence bruins(Hockey affilate of the boston bruins.)Well welcome home in about seven months.Talk to you next time. Missy and family

We had a wonderful time at SSR last NYE. There was a pool party, and lots of activities going on for kids. Fantastic! It was my first trip "home" as well.

Have a fabulous time!

UK Paul! Do you have to ask? My DW and I really enjoy having lunch at an outside table at the Rose and Crown. Once we were even lucky enough to book a dinner reservation that had us there during IllumiNations, but it was not in December when it might be a bit cooler out there at 9:30 PM. ;)

I also vote for the Candlelight Processional even if you don't do it with a dinner package. You have the right idea to visit the resorts for the decorations. We love doing that, too, with a few dining stops at the restaurants! :goodvibes

We're going there for NYE, and then moving to the boardwalk.

But DD-7 is too tired at night to go into huge crowds, so pool party sounds perfect for us.

Thanks, Goldi

WDWSTAR or others, any more NYE tidbits for SSR?

Goldi
