Do these parks do anything special for the Christmas season - shows, fireworks, M&Gs etc?

Hollywood Studios does the most of the two for sure. At 5:45 there is the main tree lighting, then at 6pm they begin the Sunset Seasons projection show on the Tower of Terror along with "snow". At 8pm is the Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam show projected onto the Chinese Theater which has a ton of fireworks. Very fun! We did all of these on Thursday and had a blast.

Animal Kingdom has a few meet and greets with characters in Christmas costumes. Kenny the Pirate has an overview of them from last year here.

Oh they would love that! (Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM).

There is a Santa M&G on Sunset Blvd. Sunset Blvd. is all decorated and is lined with lights that accompany the Sunset Greetings projection segments. Also, the Frozen sing-along has a special holiday finale and Echo lake is nicely decorated. DHS is a must do during the Christmas season.

And if you want to splurge, there is the very popular JBJB dessert party which takes place inside the Chinese theater courtyard.

How does the price of the JBJB party compare to the MVMCP?

Along Bay Lake, there are up to 4 Photopass photographers. The one along the lake, across from the Frozen FP entrance, gets a view of the Christmas tree and ToT.

I would watch a little bit of Jingle Bam on YT before buying tickets to the dessert party just to be sure. Don't totally spoil it of course! lol but just to get a feeling for the music. There's something about the music that I personally don't enjoy. I guess it depends what kind of Christmas music you enjoy

You'll get a ton more for your money if you do MVMCP. Especially if your time in the parks otherwise is limited.

Just make sure you watch this year's version, not that you'll get anywhere near the feel and flavor of the live performance from a video. This year's JBJB show has been significantly enhanced with pyrotechnics and has been very well received by guests and critics alike.

Excluding the JBJB show, the dessert party does pretty well on it's own merits. IMO, the JBJB show is better viewed from the day guest viewing area than the dessert party VIP viewing area.

HS did a great job of enhancing their usual decorations this year, and they've added falling snow on both streets as well. My only complaint was that the sound level on Sunset Blvd was so high! We ate near Fairfax Fare before seeing JBJB and it was really way too loud. The projections and the lights were great, though.

AK doesn't really celebrate the holidays like the other parks do.

Curious. If attending the dessert party, do you have to watch the show from the reserved area? Would it be possible to get a decent spot outside of the reserved party area to watch after partaking of the eats and drinks?

Probably, of course it depends on the crowd level that evening.

When you leave the party area for the viewing area, you can always try to find a spot in the center stage area and if you don't find anything, return to the dessert party viewing area. You've got nothing to lose. If you decide to watch it from the party viewing area, I suggest being towards the rear.
