My poor DS! He's cried 3 times since 5 o'clock.
Cried over losing a game, cried over me saying
it was time to get ready for bed and cried when
he got in bed because he doesn't want
"Christmas to be over". I consoled him by
saying we have 11 more days until Epiphany-
when we celebrate the "wisemen" arriving
at Jesus's birthplace. He looked up and through
his tears said "then Christmas isn't really over?"
He was just pathetic-I reminded him of the
story of Jesus' birth one more time and I think
he is feeling better. I remember those feelings
of loss and letdown on Christmas night as a child.
Our Christmas was filled with small troubles and
disapointments-all small thank goodness. Those
who were sick are getting better and although
the snow kept grandparents from travelling to us,
we're going to them tomorrow. No big family fights,
we played with all our new toys(almost) and
watched an Elvis movie! :smooth:
DH is reading to DS right now and all is quiet.
I love a peaceful house!
Merry Christmas all!

Bless his little heart, it's so hard to see all the buildup come to an end. Good reminder about Epiphany! Merry Christmas! :) :) :)

My DS has had the same reaction. He has been on an emotional roller coaster since about 3:30 this afternoon. I, too, resorted to the story of the epiphany. That's funny that it worked for both of us. It didn't even have to do with presents, just with the fact that the "season" isn't over yet.

For us, it's not over yet. We have Christmas on Sat w/cousins and then Christmas on Sun w/Grandma. The snow put a delay on our Christmas Day plans.

Then it's 2 days till New Years Eve!

My DD had a meltdown yesterday afternoon also. Much better this morning.

That was a good way to help him keep the season going!! I even feel a letdown after the big day, you spend so much thought and time preparing and it just flies by so quickly!!

I went through that more last year than this one. DD did ask how much longer the tree would stay up and I told her another week. That seemed to satisfy her for now. It's overwhelming for all of us!:D
