Christmas/New Years week--- POLY or should I split stay?

Yep. We'll be there during the craziest time of the year We've always wanted to stay at POLY so are finally doing it this year. Our kids (who are older...they'll be 17 and 20) want to stay at POLY the whole time. But We're planning on doing Epcot on NYE, and I'm really wondering if we should stay at YC at least that last day. I'm just thinking about the craziness of trying to catch the monorail to the TTC after all the festivities...where if we were staying at YC, we could just walk back to the resort? Would love to hear thoughts, especially from anyone that's been to WDW during this busy week.

We were at Epcot New Year's Eve. I think the YC would be an excellent idea.

There is very little that beats being able to walk from Epcot's World Showcase to the BC/YC complex after a long day and late night. I'd go for NYE...and in fact, might go a day ahead so that you could also enjoy being close to the Studios, enjoy the Boardwalk attractions, and even SAB during the warm parts of the day. I did a split stay between Poly (over Christmas) and BCV (closer to NYE) years ago, and it was the best of both worlds. If your kids spend the bulk of their time at Poly, they should be able to enjoy a few days elsewhere IMO. And beating the crowds in relation to transportation on NYE night is the very definition of magical .

I tried to catch a bus after NYE at MK. It was a major sea of people trying to get out at the same time. I think I spent almost 2 hours waiting for the POR bus. POFQ's queue (ha ha, made a funny!) had emptied out before Riverside's queue did, so I was tempted to jump over. I had three very tired kids, though, and I didn't want to make them walk from FQ to Riverside. The bus to pick us up came soon enough, though. I think as a couple of the buses meant for FQ were coming to the park depot, they were radioed to change course for Riverside

Yes, absolutely, switch to YC for NYE. We were there between Christmas and New Year's in 2015 and stayed at BWI. Just getting to MK on a BWI bus for RD on one of those weekdays was a nightmare.

Sounds like I need to make a switch for at least that night. I've never done a split stay...If my current reservation is for the POLY the 24th-1st---Would I still be able to make all my ADR's thru the 31st if I kept the poly package at the 180 day mark...and then just did a room only for YC for the 31-1st? Or will it not let me book my NYE ADR since I'm changing hotels that day?
