Was wondering if any who have sailed on a Christmas Cruise can give a description?
Are they popular?
We've always stayed at home with family around but am intrgued by the thought of being on a ship on Christmas Day.
Do they actually sail on Christmas Day? Are you in a port or does that depend on the particular day Christmas would fall on?
Can imagine trying to lug a pile of presents on and getting Santa to "hide" them from the little ones.
Any Christmas cruising experiences would be appreciated :)
Cheers,

We sailed on the Magic for Christmas 2002 with a 14, 12 and 10-year old. The ship was decorated beautifully and it certainly looked like Christmas every where. Formal night was on Christmas Eve and they had special menus for Christmas Day. There were all sorts of holiday related activities . . . building gingerbread houses, caroling, etc. Santa was in the lobby handing out age appropriate gifts to the children on Christmas day. The characters were in their finest Christmas outfits.

We were docked in Cozumel on Christmas Day and believe it or not everything was open, certainly not like here in the states.

It was fun being in a tropical paradise for the holidays. It was weird being on a jeep tour and on a beach on Christmas Day when you are used to it being cold and snowy. But is was really fun and different. We did miss our family as we always have a huge crowd of 30 or so on Christmas day.

My kids were older so the cruise was their big present and I just packed some small token gifts in the suitcase and put them out the next morning for them.

We also brought some decorations and decorated our room and our door.

The weather in Florida was very cold 40s -- 50s, but the rest of the week it varied from 70s to 80s. I was very windy on one of our sea days and you needed a sweatshirt. The kids could have cared less, they swam every day and even in Florida.

The ship was full and we paid a premium price to be on that cruise even though we booked almost 2 years out. I am told that this cruise usually sells out pretty quickly.

This year Christmas Day falls on a Thursday so if you were on the Magic for either the Eastern or Western you would be at sea that day.

If you were on the Wonder, you would either be embarking or disembarking depending if you were doing 4 day or 3 day.

They did change the 3day and 4 day cruises for this year so their won't be an embartion or deparktion on Christmas Day. That's what's also holding up those dates for next year, because Christamas and New Years fall on a SAt.

what was the sweatshirt for then???
sorry, couldn't help but to add to Buckaroo's Dad's comments!
