Yoo Hoo!! I just booked a hot air balloon ride for our family for Christmas morning. This may sound corny, but my dad died several weeks ago and I thought it would be comforting to be "closer" to him up in the sky on Christmas morning. We're taking my mom, also. This has been so comforting to me to be able to plan a WDW Christmas. I knew I didn't want to be here for our first Christmas without him. So far I have planned for us to go to Cirque Du Soleil for the first time, the Candlelight Processional dinner package on Christmas Eve, hot air ballooning Christmas day, the Richard Petty Driving Experience for my husband, and hopefully Victoria and Albert's Chef Table. Any other suggestions for a "Must Do"?

Sounds like you are going to have an awesome Christmas. Have a fabulous time.

The balloon ride, is that something you arranged through WDW?

Congratulations on the fabulous Christmas plans you're making. We are also going to WDW from Dec. 5 - Dec. 12. AND we are practically neighbors....we live in Western Shawnee. So sorry about your father. Lost mine 3 years ago and miss him very much. Have a wonderful time planning--and then enjoying--your vacation!

cgcw: I booked the balloon ride through Orange Blossom Balloons. I think I read about them on these boards last year. Here's the link:http://orangeblossomballoons.com/

KSgirl: Hi neighbor. It's IS a small world after all. Thank you for the condolences. We were at Disney last year about the time you are going. It's wonderful. There were no lines at all. They didn't even have the fast pass machines open!

Mouseketeer--I think that is a wonderful tribute to your dad. Be careful not to run into Santa!!

KSGirl--I'm in Western Shawnee, too. It truly is a small world after all!!

Sounds a little like our plans....well almost

Cirque Du Soleil...I'd love to do but not sure I have the money yet...

CP Dinner on Christmas Eve...Yup...that's my 40th birthday and that's how we are celebrating

Hot air ballooning....DH really wants to try this..but I don't want to push so I'm secretly hoping he books it on his own..

Richard Petty Driving Experience...this is going to be my present to myself....I'm planning on doing this..

V& A....Thought it would be fun but we've run out of money....

So, actually I've thought a lot about doing what your planning just have nailed anything down yet...:D :D :D

We've lived out here for over 14 years. After rereading this thread, I am anxiously awaiting December...especially after this sweltering heat wave we've been having! I suppose it's good physical training for our Labor Day weekend trip. Less than two weeks now!!!!!

Have a great time going at Christmas! The year we stayed there Mickey left a little gift for us on the door -- what a wonderful surprise!

Glad to see some Kansans on the board. I'm an "honorary" one myself -- both DH and I are KSU grads. Great state. Can't wait to move back!

Kristen :)

KSGirl--I just saw that it's 77 degrees in Orlando with rain. What I wouldn't give for some of that rain here. The 105 degree heat here can't be any worse than what you'll have on Labor Day. We've lived in Hillcrest Farm for 5 years, but my kids aren't in school yet so I really don't know anybody outside of my neighborhood.

Kristen--My husband is working at the K-State football game this weekend at the Chiefs stadium. (I think it's this weekend.) Go Wildcats!!

Kristen-
Both my husband and I are KSU grads as well. We actully met at Brother's in Aggieville! Not using my degree right now...staying at home with my four children.

swilphil-
You aren't kidding about the HEAT!! Today's school dismissal was from the cafeteria so the kids didn't have to stand in the sun waiting for their car. I can't imagine Florida can be any worse! People would be surprised at how humid it can be around this part of the country as well. I saw that there may be some rain in the forcast....we haven't had decent rain since JUNE!!

We live very close to you, but on the south side of SMParkway. 3 of my kids go to Clear Creek Elem., where I am the PTA president. Did you see the big purple gorilla we had in front of the school for our Welcome Back Celebration last Friday??

We are leaving for our Labor Day trip in just over a week! Yipee! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Swilphil and KSgirl,

Nice to meet you! Sure wish I was going to be at the game this weekend but in front of the tv will have to do. We did upgrade our cable to digital-something-or-another so we can watch the games this year though!

I'm not using my degree right now either. DH is in the Army and travels alot so I play mommy and daddy alot. It's easier if I'm home -- much more flexible schedule that way.

Thanks for responding and go Cats! And to keep this "on topic" -- I love WDW at Christmas!! :D :D

Me and my mom and my bro check in on Christmas day. We are really excited. We usually get seasonal passes but this year decided to splurge and get annual. You sound like you are going to have a great time! What hotel are you staying at?

RedNeckChik--I agree. WDW is the best at Christmas. The decorations are awesome, and the weather is perfect!

KSGirl--How exciting that you are going to go to WDW with no kids. Have you done this before? I think DH would want to go someplace "more adult" if we left the kids behind. I also would worry that I would be thinking how much my kids, especially the 3 year old, would enjoy it. Are you staying at one of the more adult-oriented resorts? Sorry, I missed your purple gorilla, must not have gone to Dillion's that day.

My husband knows how much I love Disney and is being a sweetie and humoring me....my birthday is over Labor Day Weekend. We actually have been twice to Disney together BC (Before Children)....once for our honeymoon and a couple of years after. This will only be the second time we've ever been away from the children, but they are old enough now that they will be just fine (family is coming to stay with them). We are very excited to do some "adult" things at Disney: relaxing sit-down meals, shopping, maybe PI, and actually riding some of our favorite rides....TOGETHER (we usually split up with the kids). The kids are a bit bummed they aren't going, but we all have our December trip to look forward to. I LOVE Christmas and think that seeing all the decorations and events at Disney World will be wonderful.

Currently, we are booked at All Star Movies (supposed to be a low-budget trip), but I'm thinking of upgrading to a moderate since it will be for my birthday. In December we are staying in an off-site suite with a kitchen and washer/dryer....which I felt was necessary with four kids. We'll miss the magic of staying on site, but cannot afford Disney prices for 2 bedroom suites!
