Do you have something traditional that you eat on Christmas morning? If so, what is it?

Now that DH and I have a little family of our own, I want to start a tradition of making something like monkey bread on Christmas morning. Looking for ideas...!

my kids love those Sister Shuberts Rolls with the sausage inside
I make those and cheese grits

I know -it doesn't sound very exciting

We do monkey bread and a breakfast casserole (sausage and eggs).

MMMM...I love those! Somebody threw me a bridal shower brunch and served those, and I had to force myself not to eat 20!

We just have cinnamon rolls, usually the Pillsbury kind. We open stockings and presents from Santa while they are cooking, then eat and then open presents from the family.

My mom makes a breakfast casserole with eggs, sausage, hashbrowns and cheese, and then topped with salsa. On the side we have strawberries.

We make breakfast lasagna, homemade sausage, and shrimp omelets. Sometimes I do monkey bread, and other times- a coffee cake.

My mother was from Virginia and it was their tradition to have ham, biscuits, and oyster stew. Our generation (and then the next one) didn't have the affinity for oyster stew like the elders. ;)

Breakfast casserole. I like it because I make it the night before and then just put it in the oven before we open gifts. Here's the recipe:

Breakfast Quiche

8 slices of bread, crusts removed
1 lb breakfast meat (bacon or sausage—fried and crumbled or diced ham or Smokey Links)
1 – 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 dozen eggs
1 tablespoon of salt
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 cup milk
1 small can diced green chile

Butter both sides of bread and place in the bottom of a 9x13 pan sprayed with vegetable oil spray. Sprinkle cheese over bread. Spread meat over cheese.

In a bowl, beat eggs. Add milk, salt, dry mustard, and green chile. Mix well with eggs. Pour over bread, cheese, and meat—evenly distributing throughout pan.

Cover and place in refrigerator overnight. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour.

Egg nog french toast. Instead of using eggs we use egg nog and dip the home made bread in it.

We do breakfast casserole with ham, eggs, cheese, bread and broccoli. I make it the day before and it sits overnight in the fridge. All I have to do is pop it in the oven the next moring. So easy and YUMMM.

We used to go to my grandma's for breakfast. Eggs, bacon, sausage, etc.
but since grandma passed away, we now eat whatever is around, cereal, bagels.

And we do a HUGE dinner.

Christmas brunch is one of my favorite Christmas traditions in our family. We have monkey bread, fruit salad, breakfast casserole (made with sausage, cheese, grits, etc.), and some other tasty treats. Sometimes we also get a Chick-fil-A nugget tray the day before and use the Sister Schubert rolls to make our own chicken minis like they serve at Chick-fil-A. Yum! :goodvibes

We do a breakfast strata similar to the one NMAmy posted. I'll look for the recipe and post it later. It's so great being able to make it the night before.

and baked Xmas morning..Disney's Main Street French Toast Loaf...mmmm..with warm blueberry or blackberry syrup..

Love this thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My tradition with my parents is my mother makes homemade cinn. danish with icing..AMAZING!!
Now we usually go to my fiance's parents house and there are fresh piping hot triple berry muffins that we have with whipped butter and coffee..we have that while we are doing our stockings then we have breakfast of eggs , bacon and potatoes...then do our presents..its so fun!
As for my mom's danish..we still have them, she usually gives me some when they come by later on christmas day..OR christmas eve so we can have them in the morning when we open our gifts...i love Christmas!!:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

We host Christmas brunch every year, this is our menu:

Challah bread French toast
homemade hash browns
chocolate croissants (from Williams Sonoma....heavenly!)
fresh fruit
bacon
sausage
Orange juice/coffee
