This will be our first Christmas at DisneyWorld and I want to bring lights for our balcony at AKL. Does anyone know how long they need to be and is there an outlet outside on the balcony or do you have to plug them in inside. Thanks for the help.
I don't think there is an outlet on the balcony. You would have to keep your balcony door open if you were to run the cord through and this would mean bugs in the room. I think you had better ask permission from the hotel prior to going since they may be considered a fire hazard. You don't want to carry them if they won't let you hang them.
Hi Colette, I don't know the answer to your question. Last Christmas was our first Christmas at The Boardwalk, I didn't know enough to bring decorations. This year I will bring a little tree, our stockings, and lights for the balcony. I figure I'll bring a long extension cord just in case. Christmas at Disney World is fantastic! It is our new holiday tradition.

I guess I was wrong...I just wondered though how they would be hung if there wasn't an outlet on the balcony? Wouldn't that mean leaving your door open?
Hi Tracy, I hope I didn't sound rude. I'm not sure how they plug the lights in, but they do and it is fun and festive! Maybe someone who has done it will let us know.
No Worries I was just perplexed at how this could be done if there are not outlets on the balconies and I just wanted to warn the poster in case she brought them down and then couldn't use them.
Many, many balconies were decorated last Christmas including ours at the WLV! I took either a 50 or 100 strand of icicle lights. It wasn't enough. I would take a 150 strand and a heavy duty extension cord. There is no plug outside, but run the extension cord into the room. You won't be able to close the door all the way (up to the cord), but that won't be a problem since no one can climb onto the balconies. It was wonderful coming back from MK and seeing the lights on our balcony!
We also took a small tree and it was nice having the Christmas cheer in our room.
I will be at AKL during Christmas as well, Collette.
I was wondering if they allow you to have lights on the Savannah view balconies only because of the animals. Janet2k said she had a giraffe looking through her balcony because it saw the lights on her xmas tree in her room. I thought that was cool.
I am going to be staying in a pool view room so I do not think it will be a problem.
Thanks for all the great replies-thats why i love these boards! I had read about lights on another post-that's what got me thinking about the outlet and length of lights, but I will be in a Savannah room so I don't know about that-maybe someone who has stayed in one would know the answer. I think I'll take them anyway and use them in the room if I can't use them outside. I'm so excited about this first Christmas there-Connie-we'll be there from 12/19-12/27. It will be myself and 15 year old son. E-mail me if you want to meet up with us there. Thanks again for all your answers.
