Hey Sparkle!

LTNS! Sure miss our Funville!

The answer to your question is... maybe, depending on the exact dates of your trip. The decorations go up the Friday before Thanksgiving. You mention you will be there that week. If you are staying through Friday, you'll see the transformation.

Here's the info from Disneyland. com.

"Experience the Holidays at Disneyland® Resort

Feel the magic of the holidays as the Disneyland® Resort celebrates the splendor of the season. Enjoy special Yuletide entertainment along with favorite classics wrapped with a seasonal twist. A spectacular transformation takes place each evening in Disneyland® Park as Sleeping Beauty's Winter Castle shimmers and shines with twinkling lights, sparkling icicles and glistening snow capped turrets.

Enjoy the Holidays at the Disneyland® Resort from November 21, 2008, to January 4, 2009. Check back soon for more details!*"

... and the link if you want it.

There will be decorations as they start the decorations very early into November. But I believe they don't start the Christmas things (the fireworks, parades, tours, festivities) until the 21st this year if I remember Danger Mouse correctly. But in the past the decorations always come up early.

Last year they started putting up decorations early in november, but the official festivities don't start until the 21st

Decorations are usually completely up by Veteran's Day. They will film the DL portion of the WDW Very Merry Christmas Parade show duing that weekend.

You should be fine. I will be there the same time you will be. The decorations should be completed with small details being added that week. There will be no holiday entertainment until Friday the 21st. IASW is not scheduled to open officially till the 29th, but we may be lucky with either a soft opening or park holder pass previews.

On the other end, do you think Christmas decorations will still be up on Jan 2?

Chances are pretty good that quite a few decorations should be up the week before Thanksgiving, but that Friday is the day they'll be in full Christmas mode. I know that last year they had the snow on the castle a week or so before they had the lights up on the castle. Haunted Mansion Holiday will be in full layover since it's up before October.

And it's a minor thing, but if you want to see the castle with the wreath on it, you must go before December 31. The wreath comes down on that day for the New Years banner.
