DD15 - 16 in a few weeks - is hard to shop for this year. What kinds of things are you thinking of getting your teen daughters? I'm looking for suggestions in the $25 - $50 dollar range - not the BIG gift (a digital camera and a Garmin GPS to go with her new driver's license!) but not candy for her stocking, either.

She has enough Bath & Body Works, Clinique lip gloss sets, stationery sets, etc. to last through the teen years.:rotfl:

I like to keep things even under the tree(comes from being a twin!) and her older sister has a lot of big packages this year, since she's setting up an apartment in the near future. I'd just like DD16 to have a few packages to open that are roughly equivalent to a hand mixer, a set of wine glasses, and a Julia Child cookbook, kwim??:lmao:

Does she like anything in particular? Last year my mom and grandma both got me Jonas Brothers stuff. Maybe you could do something like that

She's aged out of the Jonas Brothers, and most of her music is on her Ipod. I'll get her an Itunes gift card for her stocking but I'd still like her to have a couple of packages to open.

Gift cards are always good. You could come up with creative ways to wrap them-stick some in huge boxes with books or bricks so it appears to be something different.

What about a new purse or wallet to hold her new driver's license? A fun key chain maybe?

My DD loves PJ's so she usually gets some of those.

How about clothes? I know they are hard to buy for at that age but maybe some sweatshirts or something easy?

What about a gift card for a local gas station????

She's getting some clothes for her birthday so I won't do many for Christmas - maybe a new pair of jeans. I like the key chain idea - maybe a key chain with her car key already on it and a small gas gift card wrapped in a box.

Also, I like gift cards but not just in an envelope. Maybe I'll do a movie gift card and put it in an empty popcorn box with some Junior Mints - :rotfl:

If your daughter likes make up, a really popular gift set is from Sephora. It is called The Lash Stash and it has about 10 mini-sized mascaras from all the high end makeup companies. My daughter LOVED this gift and found her favorite mascara through this kit.

I was unable to buy the kit last Christmas as it was wildly popular and had to wait until her birthday to get it. If you are interested in it, I would get it right away.

Also, Sephora also does a perfume sampler. You pay about $50 and you get 8 small bottles of perfume (there are three different kits depending on your style/likes) and they are all great perfumes. Then, you get a certificate in the box to choose a full-size perfume (one of the 8). My DD also really like this but I don't know if a 15 year old is that into perfume.

A nice watch or other piece of jewelry (earrings?), accessories for her new camera like rechargeable batteries and charger?, leather gloves, manicure/pedicure certificate, incense burner (DS loved his at this age), leather wallet, Vera Bradley wristlet...

Those are great - thanks! We usually get some Sephora stuff - I just didn't think of it this year. I'll look into that!

ETA: Just went online Sephora shopping - the Lash Stash and the Lip Service samplers are on their way!! Thanks so much - that was a GREAT idea!!!!

Gas cards if she'll be expected to put gas into a vehicle.

If you live in a colder climate where you have to warm your car up first, one of those key chains that come apart would be nice. That way she could start the car, detach the rest of the keys (and the clicker), and still keep the car running while locking the car up. Both of my kids wanted those types of key chains.

You could also get her stuff for a car. An emergency kit, a ice scrapper thingy, different little things like that. Toss in some car fresheners like the Yankee Candle ones or the drops that you put underneath the seat.

My kids are 17 and 19 (he turned 19 yesterday :) ), and when they were 16, it was ALL about the car.

Of course as a teen and a female one at that, clothing (check out the Pink line at Victoria's Secret), totes, purse, jewelry, perfumes, etc... all make great gifts too. My daughter would LOVE anything Pink. Even the flip flops in the middle of winter would thrill her and they have the cutest duffels.

Thanks, everyone!!! All great ideas and I have plenty to choose from now. I just needed a little jump start...:rotfl:

Also, some of my "good" ideas have to be shared with dad/stepmom and other relatives. They like a list and I like to make sure everything on it would be something the DDs would like - ;)

I love all the car ideas and am trying to put together a list for dad/stepmom with that kind of stuff. That seems like a dad kind of thing to buy.

Oh, yes, forgot about Pink!! Many years of buying Pink stuff -I'll have to go by VS and see what's new.

Along this line, I subscribed my daughter to Cosmetique for a year for her birthday. She loved it. Each month for the year (and a few other random times thru out the year), she'd get a package in the mail and she'd get really excited when she'd see the box upon coming home from school. If you wanted to do it, you could join, and have the initial shipment wrapped and let her know she'll get 1 a month (until you decide to cancel).

That's pretty neat - I'll remember that for future reference...

DD is forever taking her ipod dock in with her when she takes a shower so she can listen to her music. DH has a fit because he is convinced she is going to get it wet by mistake and electronics and water don't mix. Therefore, I was thinking I would get her a shower dock for her ipod. Is that something your DD might enjoy?

I'm sure she would - I'll have to look at that. I know she has a "waterproof" radio and I hear it cranked up some mornings!!

Going on the purse idea of a previous poster, how about a nice (semi-inexpensive) wristlet from Coach or Dooney & Bourke.

I have a DS15. I know, that is a LOT different than a DD. However, a couple of things he would be interested in are ITunes for his Ipod and an IPod docking station for his Ipod. The Ipod can be bought at CostCo for less than $100 and it makes a stereo out of the Ipod. It is really nice. I would think that would be a very nice generic gift.
