I really, really like the "how much per kid" thread started by snoopy but I wanted to see the results in a poll format so here goes..

Wow the majority is 500 and over!
I voted for that but that includes 7dayplus hopper, Univ tick and SeaWorld tick for our Oct 04 vaca

and here I thought MY kids were spoiled. ;)

Peggy

my kids are still little 20months and the same age so Im hoping to keep it fairly reasonable

I voted. :)

So far I've bought my older kids Gameboy Advance Sps, one GameBoy game each, two Game Cube games each, a remote control car each, and one of those Gameboy/Gamecube Accessory things - they are sharing that, and a couple of cds and dvds that I got on sale at Black Friday. I also need to buy them both some new clothes, so they will both top $400. Alot of that I paid for using gift certificates from my Credit Card rewards program and I also had a 15% off coupon for Circuit City in November. I'm also considering getting them a Netflix subscription for the year, because we have been hitting Blockbuster often lately with the colder weather (stuck inside) and it just seems very expensive.

The baby, I've gotten about 4 toys and his Christmas outfit-- and I've only spent about $120. It would be silly to just pile more toys on him to try and make the amounts even with his brothers because it would just way overload him. I'll either buy some older toddler toys and put them away for later in the year, or I'll make an extra deposit to his college account or something. I haven't decided yet.

I voted 500+ because we are getting older dd desk with accessories. She really needs it.

Normally I say 250.

I voted for $200-$250 but really it just varies. I try to give the about he same number of items but not exactly the same prices of items.

I voted $500+.

I started pulling out my stashes of stuff to wrap this past weekend. DH is going to kill me. Kids are going to think Santa won the lottery.:D

I know I spend way to much. For us, I write off a good portion of all of our toys. 100% of DS3's. It's getting harder to find a way to write off DS9's toys, unless they are a DVD appropriate for all ages. One of the benefits of having a daycare out of my home. My accountant usually rolls his eyes when he hears how much I spend on toys a year.:) We have a lot but the toys are shared by many little hands in our house. And, if they last until next Christmas without getting broken or loosing pieces, all the better.

Every year I set a limit of $200 and I always end up spending about $300. This year's total will be about $320 I think. Christmas was so much cheaper back before DS became video game obsessed, so this year I told him that he wouldn't receive more than 2.

wow. I spend about $125 per kid. I only have two. I can't imagine spending more than that on them.

Although I have no kids of my own, I always buy for the kids on both sides of my family. I rarely spend over $10 per kid unless I'm really close to that child. I love to always find neat little toys the kids will love finding under the tree.

Besides the money I like spending TME on my kid!
I would hope that everyone here likes to spend time with their kids whether they spend $100 or $800 on gifts! We usually spend over $500 each for our 3 kids. This year it has gone over $600 each after my little shopping spree today! And for the record I spend lots of time with them. LOL!

I voted...

over $500

This is not the usual though -
we are making a BIG purchase of a four wheeler! :) for the older one
and we are getting the John Deere Dump Truck for the little one!
But I think I am going to make each of them to 'THE KIDS'
so that when DS is old enough to drive the ATV she can't argue that it is 'hers' and she is still under the weight limit for the dump truck.

Its pretty easy to do...I bought my daughter a leapster plus a game..that was just over 100 right there....then the big 4 foot tall doll house plus furniture, that was 150.00, sweet magic kitchen was 80.00....add board games, make up kits, ant farm, Disney princess stuff and some other things its well over 500.00. Plus then my brother gives her a gift but he keeps it at about 50.00 because he puts a large sum in her college fund, my mom spends about 100 or so on her and also puts a large sum in her college fund. My friend bought her that big mega mega blocks princess castle which was like 75.00, all my cousins and aunts buy her things and then I also have 4 neighbors who come over on Christmas morning with gifts for her and some of my friends too so Christmas is a very large thing in our house as it was when I was a kid....BUT...we GIVE as much as we get....I spend a good sum on my mom for Christmas and we buy for all the neighbors and friends, I work for a toy drive for sick and poor children so we always buy our own toys to donate there too, I adopt a family at Christmas and my duahgter is loving shopping for the poor children and my friend just had a baby this year and my 4 year old took some of her own money becuase she wanted to buy the baby something and she also took 5.00 out of her money that she has been saving for the Disney cruise and donated it to the toy drive...that was her OWN idea, I did not even mention it...so she may get lots of toys and have a big Christmas but she is not a spolied child, she loves to give. Last month my dauhgters church was having a toy sale of used toys so Kasey went through all her toys and picked out bags of them to donate to the toy sale.

We usually try to keep it under $100 but sometimes we go over, but never more than $150.

I like my kids to appreciate what they get. They never get everything on their list, but they do appreciate what they are able to have.

I honestly can't see the point in spending hundreds on stuff that they will look at once & forget, or just put to one side in favour of bigger & better stuff.:(

I voted $250-$299, but that is just a guess. I really have not kept track of what I spent. I just bought what I wanted too until I was done getting what I wanted. :)

I did have some other ideas for DD, but I gave them to MIL. That worked out great because DD is getting stuff that I approve of and MIL does not have a hard time coming up with gift ideas. She did, however, buy her Murray's guitar! That was NOT on the list. LOL!
