Complete newbie here! Dh and I are considering renting a rv and camping over christmas time. How far in advance can we book the slot and can anyone offer any good rental companies?

Yea, I would go and try to book it now, Christmas fills up fast, and I know that Thanskgiving is pretty much already sold out.

You may have a tough time getting ressies for this year, they go really fast for Christmas.
You could read some of the older threads about strategy for ressies, the basics are....
make them as early as possible
take whatever days you can get even if its not all you need
call Monday 7AM to add days (weekend cancellations get added back in then)
keep trying, we have always been able to get what we wanted.

Good luck
Scott

We booked ours Dec 26, 2006 beginning Thanksgiving Day for 8 nights in 2007.

Book as early as possible, they do book up quickly.

We own our camper so not sure about rental companies.

:)

I booked yesterday (4-15-07) and could not get the exact dates I wanted. I got 12/23-12/28. I couldn't get any thing after that. There was only a partial hook up (water/elect) available. I would like to stay through New Year's. I will keep trying to call back to see if there have been any cancellations. This will be our first time camping at WDW.

My father upgraded in February and gave me his pop up. We are new to camping (well since I've been an adult), but we love it. The kids have more freedom than in a hotel. We can't wait to camp at FW!!!

Good luck.

Do it now. You will be very lucky if you can get a reservation. It could all depend on the size as well. I am sure prefer sites are probably gone by now. We will be there in Novemeber for Thanksgiving and that is probably booked by now too.

I tried to get in for Spring 2008 everything was gone to handle 40' so I booked a partial hookup with hopes of a prefer site will come available between now and then.

If you need a golf cart reserve it at the same time the sell out fast.

The only RV rental I know of is Cruise America you may want to google rv rentals for the area. If you are flying into Orlando check out kissimmee, lake buean vista, clermont maybe someone else can think of some other close towns for rentals. Clermont might be your best bet they have a lot of RV places if you can't find someting in Orlando area.
