I need help coming up with ideas for Christmas gifts.
We are currently straining so home made items would be nice or even websites to look up stuff that I could copy. I have a lot of people to buy or make for. I'm a little crafty but not too much.

I need for my family

Parents
Sister (married living out of state)
Brother (married living out of state)

DH's family

Dad (widow, loves Fords)
Bro. 1 (mid 40's)
Bro 2 (mid 40's, married, wife likes to cook and bake)
Sister (mid 40's with live in bf)
Bro 3 (mid 40's)
Bro 4 - taken care of already
Bro 5 (married, we usually get GC because we've never seen any of the things we actually bought them)

I will probably store buy for the kids but in case anyone has ideas for kids also we have

Nieces
10,9,2,
Nephews
3,2

I also need something for a newly married very young(18) couple.
And a single 21 yr. old male
And last I think is a young married couple(him 27, her 21) they are expecting their first child in May but they are military and will be apart from March to October this coming year. She hopefully will be coming to stay with us.

anyway, thanks in advance for any ideas or websites

Just want to say good luck. :goodvibes

Thank gawd, I don't have your list. ;)

I'd tell my siblings and siblings in law that you'd like to bow out of presents for one another this year. With the economy as it is, they may be happy to be relieved of the obligation, too. If they want to do gifts, try a grab bag among all of the siblings and inlaws, at least it would cut down on the number of things to buy and you can set a reasonable limit for everyone.

We started with the grab bag and then tapered off into only buying for the kids.

Buy for your parents and FIL. You can get your FIL a nice Ford t-shirt reasonably or a model car of a Ford. If you don't have an idea of what to buy your parents, go on to www.lenox.com and look at its sale items. You can get some really nice things that are reasonable.

If you feel that you must have something for your siblings/in laws, bake some cookies and make up cookie plates for them.

For the kids, go to Sam's Club, etc., and see what they have in the toy aisle. I bought a bunch of toys for my neices and nephews there, all for under $25.

WOW, thats a heckofa list!!!

One suggestion is what DW and I started to do a few years about, we had gone very over the top in gift giving, and one year after a trip to the mall, we both said enough.

we broke it into two catagories:

Adults and Kids.

Adults: we got (or made, DW is an expert at sewing!) one piece of clothing and a gift card (for DVD movie or game)

Kids: they got one toy and one gift card (for a CD or game cartridge)

Gift cards: we bought on-line at Circuit city OR best buy. (you can find out which store is closer on their respective web sites WWW.bestbuy.com and www.circuitcity.com ) note that Circuit city has some stores that are going out of business!!!

The toys that we got the kids were some traditional ones from Vermont country store: www.vermontcountrystore.com and Duluth Trading Company www.duluthtrading.com

The newly wed might be able to use household items. places like Target now have gift cards (they also have a gift registery! when they can go to the store and SCAN what they want, then you can go to any target store and buy them any item(s))

Hope that helps!!

(we also get them a Christmas tree decoration from Disneyland every year, but put it on the outside of the gift as a decoration!)

As a generald rule, we no longer give individual gifts to the adults in our extended family. I do have professional photos taken of the kids and give 8 x10s to all of the grandparents for Christmas.

For nieces and nephews, I aim to spend about $20 each.

I agree with the previous poster. I would tell family that you won't be exchanging gifts with adults this year due to economic contraints.

I hear what you're saying. Our list is VERY long as well.

Just a thought though, MANY stores are having issues (including circuit city) so buying gift cards may not be the best idea unless you know they'll use it right away. With things so tight I'd hate to see you buy these cards and then have them not used or forgotten and than be too late.

What about some Homemade chocolate (dipped pretzels/oreo's) yummy snack stuff in pretty cellophane bags wrapped with holiday ribbon. SO SIMPLE, for your adults this year.... except FIL (ford shirt, hat, etc) and a toy for kids.
It would save you lots and perhaps everyone would like to cut back in your family too.

Best of Luck and have A HEALTHY BLESSED HOLIDAY Season!

:thumbsup2 DEMOCRATS FOR MCCCAIN:thumbsup2

REDACTED FOR BREVRITY!

We have been looking into the mastercard/visa one time card. (for the very reason stated) you can get these for any amounts, and once they amounts are used, they are invalid. the beauty of them is that you can "spend" them just about anywhere.

This is something that I done this year so I'll pass it along, you can get on amazon and buy someone their favorite shows or a favorite move, I was able to buy my mom and dad both a series pretty cheap and I bought my dad a brand new copy of old ford cars book for 8 $ and old tractors, so that might be something to look into.
