It's getting ridiculous. My shop has been selling Christmas cards since August! Christmas music is blaring out in many stores and even the imminent Bonfire Night isn't making a dent in it.

Does anyone else find that Christmas is beginning too early?

Yes, I do. Our local hobby store was stocking their shelves w/christmas decor (not just craft stuff) in early July.

I suspect that it'll continue "getting earlier" until it wraps around and laps itself. :)

Yes i drive a cab at night and home depot put up x mas trees 3 weeks ago and i was like holloween and thanksgiving not here yet and we are jumping into christmas

Yes it is getting to early.... what is Bonfire Night????

Just remember that there are only 785 shopping days until Christmas 2012. ;)
The question is whether there will BE a Christmas in 2012... Now that the computations have been redone, does the calendar actually go that far? :)

My 18yr old DD and I went shopping yesterday and even one of the teenager clothing stores was playing Christmas music! Talk about rushing things...:sad2:

There are people on this board that are done with their Christmas shopping already. Do you really blame the STORES for pushing this???

I had the opposite problem. Early September, I went to our craft store looking for supplies to start thinking about making Christmas cards, but they didn't have supplies out yet. In the crafting world, where it can take time to make your items, I didn't think I was that early at all.

it always seems that way to people on here, but it is not, every year retail just does this, and every year people say the same thing. I am working some part time as I do every year...it is all the same...:confused3

Last year, stores in our area were advertising "Last Minute Shopper" specials the weekend after Thanksgiving.

And "After Christmas" markdowns the week before Christmas.

Unbelievable.

Bonfire night is a UK thing. Its Nov 5th Guy Fawkes night. He tried to blow up parliament back in the 16th century.
I HATE it!!...We have fireworks going off starting September.

Our local grocery chain has live pointsettias (sp?) advertised in todays paper. :sad2: DH & I decided they probably wouldn't look too good by Dec. 25th, so we'll wait to buy some later. I tend to kill plants! :rotfl2:
