Christmas eve or Christmas morning

Christmas eve we exchange presents from family and the Christmas morning is Santa. Presents first then stockings

We do pjs and something fun for Christmas Eve.....this year DVDs. These aren't wrapped and then one present. Always was so hard to pick the one...don't want clothes if you only get one.
The rest Christmas morning after stockings.

Christmas Eve we always got Christmas pajamas. Then Christmas morning we got one toy to entertain us until all the adults woke up and then around noonish we did the rest (and opening presents takes 5 hours in my family between breakfast and the mass amount of presents yikes)
For my DFi when I went to his place for Christmas, Christmas eve was presents, Christmas Day they did a gift exchange which was pretty funny the little kids kept stealing the adult gifts and leaving the fathers with stuffed dogs.

Christmas Eve - We open gifts with my side of the family.

Christmas Day - We take the first flight out and spend the rest of the day with my husband's family.

When they believed in Santa it was always Christmas morning but they are 14 and 17 and so we do what was a tradition with me growing up....they get to pick one present from under the tree or there stocking on Christmas Eve and open it.....just one....than in the morning they can open the rest.

that is what we did when we got older and I still love doing that....it makes Christmas eve feel a little bit more special :santa:

We open one Christmas Eve, and it is always new pajamas. The rest are opened Christmas morning.

That is exactly what we do! First thing in the morning we all do our stockings. Then, while the kids play with their stocking stuff, I make pancakes, sausage, potatoes and eggs. We eat breakfast and then do the presents!

LOL a lot of us got new pajamas on Christmas Eve!

We always went to my maternal grandparents on Christmas Eve for a big dinner with all my cousins and we opened presents from family/parents then. On Christmas morning I opened the presents from Santa. I'm an only child so it was just me and my parents. Later on Christmas Day we'd go to my dad's parents house for Christmas Day dinner and open the presents from/to them.

Open presents Christmas Eve from siblings & mom/dad. Presents from Santa aren't wrapped & of course are delivered on Christmas morning. Presents from other family members depend on when we can get together

We do the same, except pretty much everything has been delivered in time to open on Christmas eve--so only (unwrapped, assembled and set up in a display by Santa--and stockings) are left for Christmas morning--everything else will have been opened the night before.

Christmas Morning..... :santa:

after mom and dad drag themselves out of bed............. :rolleyes1

spend long minutes discussing whether or not to have breakfast before we open gifts....... :chat:

try to decide what to serve for breakfast......... :scratchin

and get their coffee fix. :coffee:

You have to drag out the torture for as long as possible. It's a Christmas tradition! ;)

When I was a kid, everything was opened Christmas morning and Christmas Day as we visited various relatives.

When dh was a kid, they opened everything (even stuff from Santa) on Christmas Eve. They had a tradition that his mom would take them for a walk on the beach in the early evening, and Santa would come while they were walking. My MIL was German/Swiss, and perhaps Christmas Eve gift opening is a tradition in Germany or Switzerland??

For our family, we used to open MIL's gifts on Christmas Eve because that was her tradition and everything else on Christmas Day, but MIL is no longer with us. Now, we open everything Christmas morning. Our kids no longer "do Santa," be we still wait until they go to bed to put the presents under the tree. We enjoy the anticipation and "wow" factor of getting up in the morning and seeing the presents under the tree.

For us, it's Christmas Day in the afternoon.

We're serving brunch at 11:00, then after everyone is finished eating, the leftovers are put away and dishes are done we'll all gather in the family room to open gifts.

When the kids were little, we opened them Christmas morning.

When I was growing up, it was Christmas Eve. I always went for a ride with my grandparents and that is when "Santa" came to our house. :)

Christmas Eve - gifts from family members to family members

Christmas morning - gifts from Santa (us) to kids

Christmas Eve. :) Santa always came when we were out looking at all the lights. One year we went on a sleigh ride through town with my Grandpa. I still remember it, and it was 31 years ago. It was so magical!

Christmas eve is spent with the in-laws and dh's grandmother (two different meals/households) So gifts are opened there.

Christmas morning we open gifts at open (usually very, very early)

We have various gatherings the week of Christmas. However our gifts to each other (immediate family) and stuff from Santa...well Santa understands that not everyone is at home on Christmas. So he works something out with the parents. Last year he dropped the gifts off early and we did Christmas the weekend before. This year he knows Daddy has to travel for work before we have to leave and look for a new place to live in another state before having the holidays in another state with family, so he will be dropping them off here on the 29th when we get home from all that traveling and we'll have our "Christmas Morning" here on the 30th.

Just like when I was a kid and Santa took things to my dad's house for us to open Christmas Eve and my mom's to open Christmas Morning. He would actually drop them off as the elves had them ready at my dad's house.

Luckily my daughter is only 2 1/2 so she doesn't "get it" yet. But that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

We used to do things this way when I was married to my sons' father and after our divorce when they were still young.

He worked offshore while we were married so "Christmas morning" could be anywhere from a week before to a week after, depending on the crew change day.

After our divorce, the boys changed houses at 6pm on Christmas eve so on the years that ex-h had them for Christmas Day, Santa came the night of the 23rd and we had our family Christmas the morning of the 24th.

DH's immediate family does Christmas Eve for the FAMILY GIFTS (they do not do Santa as he only comes to "our" house in their words).

DH's extended family (grands/aunts/uncles/cousins) do Christmas around 1 on Christmas Day.

My immediate family (and remaining grands as they live across the street from my folks) goes Christmas evening as we are usually waiting for my brother and SIL to return from her family events... they live 3 hours away.

My extended family is actually doing Christmas this weekend - with our family ever expanding (my cousins and I), it's become too much to schedule with extended extended families, so we're trying something different this year.

We have three Christmases. DS opens his 'santa' gifts on Christmas morning. Christmas Eve, we have a small dinner party and head to a midnight Carole sing at church. It'
s ususally pretty raucous and yes, we have designated drivers!!
