A very good friend has long-standing reservations at Wilderness Lodge from Christmas Day until after New Year's. Due to some last minute changes in family plans, now they are able to travel and arrive on Christmas Eve (which would work so much better for their family) Her problem is that Wilderness Lodge has availability, but no discounted rooms and they just cannot afford full price. I am seriously considering offering to reserve a studio for them for that night, but two questions: There reservations are for a regular room. Is there any way to use points on a regular room, so they would not have to move on Christmas Day? Second, can I anticipate any availability at this late day anyway (yes, I can call MS, but as a complete newbie I thought I'd post first and get some idea of what else to ask and how to handle.)
