we usually do a big breakfast and then snack throughout the day.... I am trying to come up with a "simple" dinner idea- lasagna maybe? anybody else?
What are you serving?
:santa:

Can't hardly beat something in the crockpot. Make it in the morning - smell it all day and enjoy in the afternoon. I haven't got a Christmassy menu suggestion, but surely there's something out there. :cool2:

We do lasagna. Also a prebaked ham is a great idea. Rachel Ray made a red and green lasagna yesterday on her show that looked interesting.

I think I'm going to do a chicken or cornish game hens, in the crock pot with chicken broth, garlic under the skin and in the cavity and lots of herbs on top! No clue what sides I'll do but I'll figure that out soon. Some of my friends are doing soups too......

joining in late...This is what we do: BIGGGG breakfast late (after opening presents)...then free snacking on goodies (cookies etc.) throughout the day--it's the only time of the year my DS gets to do that, which he totally loves! Then, late afternoon or early evening, we set up a buffet of a bunch of different appetizers. A few from this year include: spinach dip, bacon-wrapped water chestnuts, chipped beef dip, my sister's yummy spiced pecans, sausage snacks (sausage and velveeta on mini bread)....yum! Can't wait. We do a nice christmas eve dinner, so nobody wants to eat like that two days in a row, KWIM?

We eat big for dinner on the 23rd and Christmas Eve. We do a light Christmas Eve brunch w/friends and then a Christmas breakfast. By dinner on Christmas Day we are still full, so we do a bunch of appetizers and snack stuff like fruit, veggies and dip, chips and dip, crackers and cheese and some puff pastry type apps. We laso do acrockpot full of meatballs and sauce and set out cheese, rolls etc to go with them. Other good things I think would be a spiral sliced ham, mac-n-cheese, lasagna, a pot of sliced roast beef or prime rib in gravy with rolls and other condiments. Basically anything that is filling, people can serve themselves when the mood strikes and doesn't require much time in the kitchen is perfect.:santa:

I grew up in Maryland, so it is traditional to have seafood items that are quick. That usually means oyster stew, along with steamed shrimp. And we'll combine that with redskin potatoes and some family Italian dishes, such as green beans and tomatoes. Nothing here takes much more than half an hour. Mangia!

I'm sure you have a great menu by now but wanted to add my 2cents. We have done tenderloin with veggies in the past - pricey but easy and yummy. But now we go with lasagna and minestrone soup - both made ahead of time. Heat them up ahead of time and eat whenever. I like to play all afternoon too! Merry Christmas! :santa:
