I was hoping the budget board may have some fun, inexpensive decoration ideas. Old or new :goodvibes This is our first year owning a house and we're looking forward to the decorations.

For example, one I've done every year is to get some of the glass ornaments and fishing wire and hang the bulbs from the ceiling at varying heights (1-6 inches or so). The bulbs are the cheap ones and probably cost us about $5 total a few years back, but when the Christmas tree is lit up they make the room sparkle. :goodvibes You use the fishing wire because that way they just look like they're randomly floating.

My Mom had a collection of Christmas pins made from sequins. I cut out a felt Christmas tree and mounted it on to a piece of fabric. I then decorated the tree with the various pins. She even had an angel pin for the top of the tree and a gift box and teddy bear for underneath! It came out so pretty. I framed it and it looks great. I had the pins but you could probably pick up some sparkly pins at yardsales.

Also, I have started framing Santa visit photos for my hallway wall. I have one of me and my husband, a very funny one of my brothers in very stylish early 90's outsfits and I am going to pick out a few favorites of my boys. I just bought those cheap $2.00 frames at walmart and used other people's Christmas card photo holders to hold my pictures(I saved them from last year). I stick a piece of evergreen or a christmas pick behind any picture or mirror on my wall and I think it will look nice. Have fun making Christmas special in your new home!

I REALLY like that idea!!! This is our 2nd year in our new house Im ready to decorate NOW but DH says we should wait another 2 weeks. My inexpensive idea is for the centerpiece, I bought one of those small 12" trees with mini ornaments and mini candy canes for guest to grab it was very cute :goodvibes
