Christmas decorations were still up during WDW Marathon weekend last year

I was listening to this week's show, and just wanted to say that I noticed the Christmas decorations were still up during the WDW Marathon weekend this past year (January 10-11, 2010). You can see Hollywood Studios Christmas tree still up in the picture Todd Carrier took for the blog (link below) during the full marathon on Sunday. I think the decorations were still up because it was so cold last January, because they were not up for other marathon weekends.

I do hope they are still up this (I guess technically next) year. I was down in 2006 and 2008 and the only thing I remember being still up was the tree at POP in 2006 and that was only for the first day. It was taken down the next morning.

I do believe that was the case. I remember seeing some press releases discussing the reason why they stayed up was because of the extreme cold.

Agree about the cold as the reason for the extended holiday decorations. We left on January 12, and that was the first day I saw some of the decorations coming down.

I will admit I loved seeing the castle still lit up (it was fantastic running down Main Street with all of the decorations!), and it was a treat for my friend who had not been to WDW for the holidays. The music, however, was really driving me crazy. I really love the regular park music, so the non-stop Christmas music started to get on my nerves. Because by mid-January, I think most of us have heard Frosty the Snowman enough times for one season!
