If we are staying offsite can we drive our own car to a resort to check out their Christmas Decorations?

Totally! They are gorgeous! Avoid the peak days christmas eve, christmas day and new years eve unless you have an adr for that hotel. Sometime they will say they cant accommodate vehicles when the resort us booked to the max. Loophole: park at marketplace and bus to them all without worry!

there will likely be timed parking limits if they allow you in at all.

i'd just park at DTD and use the buses.

My favorites are the BW/BC/YC/Swan/Dolphin loop and the GF/CR/Poly.

They are easy to get to from the parks and take bus or monorail transportation.

WL is lovely too; you can access via the boat from MK.

AKL is lovely, but it is difficult to go from AK to AKL and back again, because AK closes early. That is one you may want to make an ADR so you can park for three hours, and tour the resort; it has a lot of interesting things to do and see.

It's not unusual for the monorail and Epcot resorts to restrict parking to resort guests and those with ADRs during peak attendance times. You're less likely to run into a problem visiting a resort that is more remote, such as AKV or the Port Orleans resorts.

I would spend the money to park the car in the MK parking lot and I would start my tour with the monorail resorts. I would begin with taking the resort monorail to the Poly. Then, hop back on the monorail to the GF, followed by CR.

Then grab the resort launch to WL. From there, take a bus to DHS and walk to the BWI. You can either walk from there or take a boat to YC/BC. Don't forget to check the S/D while you're in the neighborhood. Go back to DHS (either walking or by boat) and catch a bus to AKL/AKV (both Jambo and Kidani).

There isn't any resort-to-resort bus, so head on over to AK where you can pick up a bus to POR or POFQ to check out those resorts. Or if it's late in the day, take a bus back to the MK and ride the boat or monorail to the TTC and pick up your car.

Another great idea is to take an evening run through FW. Many of the campers really do their campsites up for the holidays!
