Hi

I'm wondering how far into January are the Christmas decorations still up? We went last January but it was late in the month so I'm hoping an early trip this year will let us spot a few still around.

Thanks!!!

I've gone to WDW the very first week in January for the last 3 years (not this year-couldn't wait!) and it kind of depends. Once, when I checked OUT to go home on January 8, the Christmas trees at POR and POFQ were still up. But if there's something you really want to see, go fast! One year, I went to Epcot 1/2-saw the tall Christmas tree. Two days later, all gone! Also, if something is supposed to end the day before you get there, and if it's convenient for you, run over and check it out the day you check in. One year, Osborne Lights were scheduled to end the day before I got there-I'd never seen them. Well, assuming I'd missed them, I went to DTD at check-in that evening. There I met a couple who'd just come from seeing the lights. They were so pleasantly surprised to be able to see them when they were scheduled to be down already. Meanwhile I did a silent G-rrrrrr for not checking for myself.

Thanks Simba's Mom :-) Nothing specific I want to see but typcically my Mom can't go in Dec (i've been) so I was hoping that some if not all might be there when we arrive. Hearing about the trees still up when you checked out gives me hope that there will be something left to surprise her with.

Thanks!!!! And have a blasat on your solo trip, even though I don't have kids I really enjoyed my solo trip a few years back. Nothing is nicer then sharing it with friends and family but those rare solo times are little slices of heaven :-D

Our family will be there for the first week of Jan (1st to 8th). Based on your visits the past three years, what should we expect re: crowds and weather? Thanks!

People say it's inconsistent weather-wise, but to me these last few years, it's been pretty consistent-consistently cold! One year on Enite, although I love Splash Mountain and there was no wait, I couldn't bring myself to go on it. But I got to see Mickey and Minnie with no wait in front of the castle. One time I went on KS safari wearing a denim long skirt (why? It's the only time I've ever worn a skirt at WDW), went into the ladies room afterwards and my thighs were as blue as the denim. One day I had PS for lunch in Germany, came from FW, got as far as Norway and was too cold to continue. Fortunately, they had an opening. Would I go again? Definitely! No lines at Ghiardelli's for sundaes (Hey, it's never too cold for a sundae!), lots of room in the pools (though there was always someone swimming), and it's WDW! Just bring your gloves and hat.

Thanks for the quick reply! It would be nice to have warm weather for swimming, but we have warm weather always here in San Diego. Cool or cold would be fine. The main thing that would be good is few lines! Do you think it will probably be crowded through the weekend and then let up on Monday to Thursday? We're only going to do the Disney parks on two of our days and want to plan right for the easiest time. Thanks!
