Christmas decorations..how soon?

I don't want to see a Christmas decoration or hear a Christmas tune until at least 12/15. And then don't tear everything down the next day! Christmas should last until the Epiphany. Then, you can take stuff down.

I'm a Christmas junkie. My mother would torture me by not allowing the decorations to go up until the 15th. Then the tree couldn't come down until the Epiphany. Our family joke was that "apparently the wise men came to the stable and...started taking down the Christmas decorations!"

Now that I've got my own house, my Christmas village starts to go up the week of Thanksgiving. The tree(s) and everything else go up the day after Thanksgiving. I'm so shocked that I haven't started the holiday music yet this year! Wow, got to get on that!

As far as taking everything down, it depends on how I'm feeling. I've been good to Mom and keep the tree up until the Epiphany and the village comes down whenver I have time. The outside decorations - well - that depends on the weather. I live in New England and they just may stay there until the thaw!
