Christmas decorations down yet?

I used to try and leave them up until Twelfth Night, or close to it. Should leave until next weekend, but since I start back at work full time on Jan 3, I need to get things picked up before then. I think I'll actually start today, at least with the shelf decorations, but if I get on a roll, I'll keep going w the tree/ornaments. We put out our Christmas stuff in early to mid Nov, so had most of that month to enjoy them. Will miss them. I have several of my mother's ornaments/keepsakes, and always love looking at them/remembering. Sometimes I keep those out all year.

The decorations will come down the weekend of January 8-9.

December 25th: First Day of Christmas
January 5th: Twelfth Day of Christmas
January 6th: Epiphany

Some things that help with this - First, we don't put decorations up until after Thanksgiving, sometimes even into December. Also, we have an artificial tree so we don't have to worry about the tree dying/drying up. Lastly, our extended family enjoys the season together the week between Christmas and New Years based on some complicated work schedules. I still have two "Christmases" to celebrate this week!

I just had a conversation with someone who thought the 12 days of Christmas ends on 12/25. Nope.

Nope. Not until the weekend after the Epiphany on January 6th. Even the year we had a cruise over New Years, we were home by January 3rd. But we haven't have a real tree in 37 years, just not worth the fire risk and mess. And this is speaking as the homeowner AND the house cleaner!

Outdoor stuff per HOA is removed by Jan 15th. There's leeway there if bad weather, etc but we take it down during the weekend so that might be a few days before or after Jan 15th. Looking at this year it'll be the 15th or 16th that it's removed.

Indoor stays up longer than that. One year we were very lazy it stayed up til March lol. But normally by the end of Jan/early February. We do not follow some other timeline other than HOA rules so every year it varies.

Will be down by tonight. My parents used to keep up until we went back to school but I find it depressing after 12/25.

This is me! I find it depressing after the 25th. The joy that other people find in their decorations after the 25th has never been there for me. Even as a kid, I wanted it all down after Christmas.

For me all of the joy and fun is before Christmas and the earlier the better. You will never hear me complain about Christmas music, Christmas things for sale etc. being too early. I love, love, LOVE the Christmas season, the shopping, wrapping, baking, Christmas parties, Hallmark Movies, Advent calendars and everything and anything else that I can think of doing for Christmas activities leading up to the 25th. Once the 25th has passed none of those things interest me, especially Christmas decorations.

We had a fresh cut tree that we put up the Sunday before Thanksgiving. It had hardly dropped aa needle and would have been fine for a few more weeks, but I don't want to look at a Christmas Tree after the 25th.

Now having said all of that we do leave one Manger up until the Epiphany. But, I don't need or want any other Christmas decor for that.

I never even realized until reading about it on the Dis how many folks kept up all of their Christmas decor and lights until the Epiphany!

I use it to fill the void for a bit longer until ugly winter kicks in, the part where it's just cold, dreary, usually at least some winter ice or snow and not much to show for it. The time after Christmas until springtime is just blah. I end up missing the green on the trees and grass and all so a bit of decor on the inside helps stave that away a wee bit longer.

I think the anticipation is gone after Christmas typically because you don't have the big day you're looking forward to on Christmas but I still get some cheer after Christmas.

I'm itching to take the tree & decorations down, but we will leave them up for another few days...everything will be away and done with by this weekend though.

I'll get the tree down sometime the first week in January. We didn't go nuts in the house itself so that will be easy to store. The front of the house is a paint in the butt that I'm not looking forward to.

Not yet. We usually take our decorations down the weekend after New Year's. With New Year's on a Saturday, we'll probably wait until the weekend of the 8th to take them down.

I would normally take them down around New Years just due to work going back shortly after that. This year I’m not working for a while but we are going out of town. So my husband took down the outside stuff and I have started getting some things together inside.

The housekeepers came today so we had to have the tree down if we wanted to maximize their presence. Plus our plans are to be on a cruise over New Years and the tree has already been up since the day after Thanksgiving and was the very definition of a fire hazard.

I just got all the tubs put away and the tree hauled away.

Ready for Valentines Day!

I Always take the tree and decorations down the day after Christmas. I love all this before Christmas, but after it is all over, I find I am over it too, LOL. I've always done this and it works for me.
I keep some colored lights up over my cabinets in the kitchen all year round though.
I always suspected that I am pretty much alone in this.

You're supposed to take the decorations DOWN?? We leave the outdoor lights up all year. It's just one string of multicolored icicle lights that border our front porch/steps. I love the soft glow that it gives our front yard, love sitting out under the colors in the summer evenings. I can see my house from the end of the street as I walk home at night, all colored and warmly welcoming. I love the lights and don't care if the college students across the street think the Neighbor Lady is a little batty!

We don't put up our artificial Christmas tree until a week or so before Christmas. This year it went up on the 13th, and we left for vacation on the 18th. Crummy vacation, and now I have covid so even though the tree is up and lit, with a ton of presents underneath, I don't know when we'll get together with DD and her family for a gift exchange- but the tree will stay up until at least then. Usually it stays up until WELL into January, maybe close to February, and I am a sucker for Christmas lights. I am missing those Christmas lights right now, but isolated upstairs with my own bathroom is the safest location for me at the moment.

They are coming down today. I can't stand having them up past Christmas. Visually it's just too "cluttery" for me. And I get real tired of it.
