Christmas Cruising 2005

Hi Cruise Gang,

I'm on Jesse's laptop while he's at school. ;) I just went to Best Buy and Circuit City looking at new laptops, and I chickened out of dropping a grand on a new one for myself. I just can't afford it! So I put my broken baby in the repair shop, and for a fraction of that price, my laptop will be fixed in 3 days. The damage wasn't as bad as I thought it was. I thought I fried the whole thing fiddling around with the power port and wire, but it's still alive! Anyway. it's been hard without my own computer. I sound so pathetic, but it's my best hobby/entertainment, and I miss it so!

Grim and Dede, OMG Piper is so cute! Thanks so much for posting the photos. Do you have a photo of the 3 of you together that you can post? I know we'd all love to see it. And will you be dressing her up for Halloween?

And Nan, I agree that Molly and Wilson look more mature, especially Molly. She really looks like an official pre-teen now. And I hope the next time we get togeher, Paul still has the beard. :thumbsup2  :rotfl:

I'm pretty sure I'm going to cancel our 2007 Christmas cruise. Chad and Jesse both say they would rather wait until all of our cruise family can get together again. There's no way we can do a 2007 and then a 2008 cruise, especially since Chad will be starting law school next September (think poorhouse), so we're going to wait for all of you! I've raised such sentimental kids! Tiggie, tell Adrian to start saving his money, so that he and Kate can come this time. I'm sure Chad will want to take Loiuse (she'll break his legs if he tries to cruise without her again, after she saw the photos of Chad "mingling" with his college crew on our last cruise).

Would you believe Tori and Jesse still keep in touch? Yup. Her family may be canceling the 2007 also, in favor of the 2008, so it'll be tons of fun for us all if we can all do this again.

And Tiggie, you have to bring John, so that the hubbies can socialize. Imagine Paul, Grim, Mel, and John together...we're going to count on Paul to keep the conversation going!

Nan, seeing you in the photo makes me miss you so much! I miss you all. :grouphug:

Hey Jill, you out there? And Kris, and Karen? :wave2:

Aisling:

So funny you should drop in...I've had you on my mind these last few days. Dreaming of being in your suitcase for your 2007 trip.

Ok, what dates/location should we be looking at for 2008. I think we should bite the bullet and do IT! The kids would be so happy if we booked another one.

Way to go for Chad...just what we need another lawyer in the world. (tongue in cheek can you tell?) Please let him know that I'm very happy for him in his on his new trek.

Well, not much going on here. Paul's working away, I'm being a slug, might just not have much work to do soon...I'm actually thinking of calling it a day (for a while) and being a SAHM. (don't tell chicken, he'd expect dinner on the table each night) I enjoy the freedom that the money brings from working, but my heart it just not in it anymore. Zero motivation.

With that I should get some stuff off my desk, so I'll sign off for now,

Nan

I'd need a dog sitter :scratchin

but it sounds do-able~

Nan and I are wondering if we could get a
Christmas Western for 2008:boat:

That would be great. I've been keeping close eye on all the 2008 threads, but it looks like we won't know late 2008 dates/itineraries until 2007.

I just saw that the 2008 dates up to April have been released. Since I have so much time on my hands  , I'm going to work calculate the possible Christmas date, and see if it's an eastern or western.

Ok I'm back.

If the 2008 schedule continues the pattern from April until December, there will be an eastern on Dec. 20 and a western on Dec. 27. So that means the 2008 Christmas cruise will be an eastern again. I'm hoping for new ports. The western has one less sea day, how do you all feel about that? Now I have something to live for, waiting and speculating on the 2008s!!!!!

i think if be ok doing the western after the holiday...

This time we could do new years together!

I like the days at sea but would be happy being on Disney with my cruisin buds and this would be someting totally different than what we did before.

Hey - what happened to 2009???

How many of my 2005 Christmas cruising friends are already planning on having our reunion, Christmas 7 day, 2009...I'm hoping my TKer friends might consider trying to hit that same cruise.

Who's in?

grim pirate:

well the talk of 2009 is just too darn far away....that was the cause of 2008....I (and the other 3 in my party) could totally hang with the New Year's Eve idea for a western 12/27/08. Shall we make it noted in our signatures...that at least makes it seem a little more real. Of course making the deposit makes it REALLY seem real huh?

what is the dog sitter in reference too? DUH???

Think you could move your schedule up a year John?

Nan has been emailing me, wanted me to do 2007, I can compromise to 2008...can you and Dede and Piper make 2008?

Just thinkin out loud Nan...Dad lives in Florida ion the winter, the kids are gonna wanna come with us this time, maybe even Mom...I doubt if my sister would cruise but there's always that possibility...I have to think of my furbabies don't I? :confused3

Nan, the pictures of you guys are great! I can't believe how much more grown up Molly and Wilson look less than a year after the cruise.
My thoughts EXACTLY!

Next thing I know, she'll be 18 and going to college!
That would be a very loud YES - I can't believe Kayla is in College and now driving. Tig / Aisling tell me how to cope with the driving??? She's admitted to 2 near misses and it's only been 4 days. I know breathe deeply. I am going to age very quickly aren't I?

If you want to celebrate Christmas a little early .... we are going on the Western cruise in early October 2008 to celebrate Dom and my 50th!!! We will be cruising during my actual birthday. You are all welcome. Just a suggestion ....

Going to the RU vs. U-Conn game Sunday night. It is great to see them do so well. I am going to freeze, but it's all part of the fun. My mom has been a season ticket holder for 30 years ... that's a lot of lean losing seasons.

:grouphug: 's and :love2: 's to all!

ah ha dog sitter yes....we always have to have one for travel. I hit up a nephew to stay with ours (and bunny and turtle)

Karen, what are your dates?

So glad not to have to worry about driving yet (except Wilson and that darn go kart)

We girls are off to see Flicka tonight and it's turning cold here too. We may not hit 70.... :rotfl2: yesterday I was driving home from school around lunch time and thought hmmmmm...yes California nice weather, good reason to live here.

Carving pumpkins on Monday, can't believe Halloween is just around the corner. Did I tell you what the kids are going to be pirate: rrrrrrrgggghhhhh

Seems you've seen those outfits, I'll have to do a side by side post from Xmas to see how they have grown....Miss Molly of course has not much longer in the dress I fear that girl will out tall me in no time.

Ciao,

N

:thumbsup2 This DCL thread has me spoiled! It's more active even one year after the cruise than my upcoming 12/26 Magic cruise thread is. I suspect it's because it's a 4-night cruise and am told that those threads aren't as active. I hope it's not a sign of what's to come. :confused3

Dunno - have to talk it over with the missus. If we did, we'd prolly have to cancel our WDW trip for Christmas 2007 - then we'd have a bajillion DVC points we'd have to use in 2008. I could envision a week at the new AKV for Christmas 2008, and then a NYE cruise... :boat:

Speaking of AKV - here's some more rumored details:

Hello all,
Just returned and did as much investigating as I could about AKL DVC. I was told a few interesting facts about the new resort. The person I spoke with was a very credible source working at the Animal Kingdom. He's seen some concept art that he assured me no one esle other than DVC Cast Members have seen. Here were the facts he shared with me.

1. The rooms being renovated on the concierge floors for DVC will get entitlement to the concierge ammenities. These rooms will have access to the lounge, sunrise safari, etc. The point values will be the same as in the new building. The trade-off will be that the rooms being renovated will be smaller than the ones in the new building.

2. The new building will have a parking garage located below the building. This will allow for more of a savannah area at the new building with more rooms getting savannah views. 80% of the rooms will have savannah views.

3. The pool at the new building will be a large interactive pool area. It will feature about 3 slides, water play areas, etc. He said the new pool area will rival Storm-A-Long Bay and will, of course, be African Themed.

4. The rooms in the new building will be larger than rooms located at other DVC resorts. He said the Grand Villas will hold 15 instead of the usual 12. Studios will hold 5, etc. This would make sense from point number 1

Hey Sharon:

Wish I was a mouse in your suitcase for Xmas. I'm sure you guys will have a good time, even without the rest of us.... :guilty:

You must give us all the inside scoop when you return, if anything changes.

Is yours the eastern or western version?

Did anything like this happen in your side of the world????

Can you believe that chicken???? It was a hand made costume, pretty funny huh?
