What lucky kids! And I'm happy for Adrian that he doesn't have to go on vaca without his sweetheart. That $90 each is fantastic. You're going to have an awesome time. :bounce:

Here's a photo I just scanned from our 2003 July 4th trip to NASA. Chad has lost 40 lbs since then and wears contacts now. And Jesse is as tall as Chad now!
We tried to separate Adrian and Cate...

Our trip last December with my Mom was officially the last vacation I'll ever have with my son to myself...:(

Seriously...look at my photo album, the Dec trip...every picture of him is on the phone...guess who with ;)

It's okay tho...really...I reminded my son of this many times during that week. I recognize him growing up and know when to be there and when to back away....sloooowly, back away :)

Cool Pic!! I printed it :3dglasses

By the time we get to the cruise,

I want to have in my portfolio, a family picture of each group that has written here on this thread...

In my research to find a meeting place, I am also looking for photo ops :sunny:

For those of you that got the new cruise video, thank you Grim..., I ask you to look at the faded photo at the beginning of the chapter on CC...

That is where I'd like to get our group shot!!!

For those of you who do not have that page, I will scan it for you Monday and post it here so you know of what I speak.

:smooth:

I have to go bring Jesse to his cousin's for a sleepover. I hope you're on later! I have some photo op ideas, but I gotta run!!!!

That'll work for me. I'd enjoy it better in cooler temperatures!

Tig, how do I reduce the photo I just posted??
I can only resize at work...:confused3

It's an editing program for photos that I can only use at work and I have no idea what the name of it is.

Now I have to do a pick up...

DD and my nephew are at the mall and it's my turn to pick them up, I still need to do some father's day shopping.

I may be back later but def not before 10pm.

It's my day in the sun :sunny: --ball game this AM (gorgeous weather), swim party then to the horse track!
I had qualified for a bar poker tournament that was last night--I was the FIRST one out! :guilty: BUT Dan & I headed down to an outdoor festival where our fav band was playing, and ran into my best friend from jr. high-college. She is a flight attendant for United, and mostly works weekends, so we find it difficult to catch each other. Really had fun!
Aisling--jealous! was he so geeky as those early films? Nice guy? I did go to high school w/ Matthew Sweet (musician, some know). Do you remember the guy in the Holiday Inn commercials--the bum still living w/ his parents and they would say "What do you think this is, a Holiday Inn?" and laugh hysterically? Ross Brockley was that guy & I went to school w/ him since third grade, knew him well. He was always a nice, cool guy---but he has gotten a bit WIERD since high school! It would be fun to meet a real famous person once....
Tig--I agree on real life actors. I find intelligence, longevity of relationships and grounded celebrities to be the most attractive (Will Smith--his new CD is autobiographical and I just LOVE it!)
MAYBE Aisling's interp. of Patrick Dempsey will change your opinion...(or maybe not!)
Well, friends picking us up for party in 1/2 hour, so gotta head!
Enjoy your weekend everyone!
Kristin

Aisling--jealous! was he so geeky as those early films? Nice guy?
Kris, he wasn't geeky, but very "straight-laced", meaning he never cursed, was always polite, never dressed like a bum like the rest of us, and he was an excellent student. He was on the quiet side, but he did belong to tons of school clubs, I can't remember which ones. He was really mature for a kid his age. He never said he wanted to be an actor, though. I don't know how THAT happened. I thought he was going to be an engineer. He was a very intelligent kid.

It's great that you and your DH go out and do so much together. Mel is so into his tennis, he plays and lives for it, it seems. Other than that, he's a homebody. But I'm glad he has his tennis, it's keeping him fit and makes him happy.

Anyone doing anything special for Father's Day?

What is everyone wearing for dinner other than the special nights? What do you think of nice capri outfits(outfits not just capris with a top) with a nice sandle? I'm hoping not to wear stockings on these nights. :earseek:

Should I bring sundresses instead?

I was thinking about this, too, since my goal is to try not to bring too many clothes.
We have 7 nights, and 3 are taken care of: Formal, Semi, and Pirate. So for the 4 nights in between, I'm going to bring one pair of black capris with 4 different semi-dressy tops, with 4 pairs of nice sandals. (I'm a shoe girl!)
I'm also going to bring a few sundresses for daytime.
If I were wearing a sundress for dinner, I wouldn't wear stockings. :teeth:

One exhausted girl here. Between long week of teaching, baseball, out Friday, then 2 hours party ended up 5 hours at the pool w/ cocktails, then over to friends...I'm wiped! And the house lookslike a tornado went through it! I need to get it in order and run some errands today before my next crazy week! (and here I sit on the computer! Need more caffeine before I get that ambitious!)
Aisling--DH and I do a lot together. It is really nice. He does love to golf (I like it OK--but only on executive courses). I like scrapbooking. We each had our own interests that kept us busy before we met. Luckily many of those overlap. We like traveling, gambling, sports, just going out in general. We also realize that we each need to get out w/o each other, too. And we both do things to keep the household running to balance it all out. I am VERY lucky!
3x/Aisling--on last cruise I wore sundresses to "casual" nights. I don't do hose! I have a darling black linen capri pantsuit, but I wasn't dealing w/ the wrinkle issue on that one! I, too, have a different pair of heels for every night--I just don't get to dress up like that at home! (even "casual" night is more dressy than most things around here--there really isn't a restaurant in town that you cannot show up in jeans! That doesn't mean you SHOULD show up in jeans, but resort casual is a lifestyle here!)
WELL>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>guess I should get busy! Might check in later!
Kristin

Thanks for the responses. I feel good about the capri outfits, now. I think I will get a couple of sundresses as well. They are cooler than shorts sometimes.

While I won't even pretend to know what a 'capri outfit' is, I wore 'resort casual' to dinner on regular nights. Like a Tommy Bahama hawaiian shirt and Dockers. The rule of thumb is - if you can see back hair, it's inappropriate :teeth:

Of course, speedos are OK for Franco and I.

grim pirate:

Grim--I supposed your speedo is tan & you wear it to mow the patch of grass. Black socks, too?? :rotfl:
Capri pants are cropped pants--the ones most men don't get. BUT they are cooler than slacks!
Gotta go play a board game w/ the kids to keep them out of their father's hair! (well, it is Father's Day & all)
Happy Father's Day, guys!
Kristin

Hey there all you disers & Happy Father's Day to all those brave men joining us here :goodvibes

Things are good in sunny CA. DH is making his traditional Ollieberry pie(s) (one for his dad one for us) and I'm lounging in the recliner ready for a peaceful evening of ebay and tv. We spent the morning in Half Moon Bay picking our berries, it was GREAT!!!! nice sunny day with a wonderful ocean breeze to keep us cool. Then headed home to enjoy the rest of the afternoon by opening all the Disney loot (it arrived yesterday) kids got swinsuits and pjs (my swimsuit was size huge and didn't fit so I had to call to see if they had a smaller one, which they did so I get it in 9 days...not in time for the trip to Dland oh well) The tropical dresses for me and Molly and shirts for the boys are great. Kinda low key, must hunt for characters, DS & I really searched for Mickey, but we found him.

Had kinda a hard night last night. We, DH, sis and I took our parents out for dinner and the "big talk" They are both in ill health & showing real signs that they need more attention and care than they can provide for themselves (too long a story for tonight, another time I'll update you all on that topic) and we want them to move into assisted living. Away from their beloved home in the mountains on a lake (snow in the winter) and 5.5 hours away from us in good weather. They were receptive, they understand that life is changing. Just a hard thing to do, tell your parents that they have to pack it up and live in a tiny space away from their dream home. Better this course than what could happen if they didn't, but it was and will be a hard next few months. DH gets to spend the next few days touring them around sites (did I tell you we call him the Pope?) and Sis and I have many doctors appointments and specialists to enlist for mom's current medical issue (a growing brain tumor). Wish us luck and pixie dust. This really is why sis and I need that Disneyland trip. We need a place to go and forget and unwind in fantasy after dealing with our parents health issues for the last 2+ years.

Well, I'm told that dinner is ready (yes, he even cooked on his own Father's day, man I'm a lucky woman) better get in and eat.

Talk with you later,

Nan

Nan,
About the assisted living, is there a place closer to you than 5.5 hours away? Would it be easier for them if they were closer to you? What a big change for them, to leave their home, but they'll adjust, especially when they see how much easier life is going to be for them. My dearest friend had to move into an asisted living facility because of numerous health issues, and it was hard for him at first, just with the idea that he wasn't 100% on his own anymore, and had to depend on others for help. But now he loves the place, is secure knowing assistance is there 24/7, and enjoys the company of the other residents. He can't drive anymore (Parkinson's), but I take him out all the time, so life is good under the circumstances. Prayers and :wizard: to your family. It will be ok.

and I'm lounging in the recliner ready for a peaceful evening of ebay and tv.
I found this dress on ebay, and I was thinking of getting it for the cruise.

I told 3x yesterday that I was wearing mcapris for the casual dinner nights, but now I may wear this dress on one of those nights! I'm going to change my mind 100 more times before we actually cruise, But it's fun doing all this planning, even if it's just with clothes.

Aisling: Yes the folks are being "forced" to move here to the bay area, most likely San Jose where 3 of us 4 sisters live (the other one is in Fremont, one town northeast, just 20 minutes) so they will be close to us, just away from their current home, which they will have to sell. I think when all is said and done they will be ok, but the thought of losing one's indendence is hard. The places we are looking at are on the most independent side, come and go as you please, they will still have their car(s) for now, we'll have to monitor that one closely, as they are showing signs of driving becoming hard, but part of that is because they make bad choices like driving too far away & having long days (9:00-10:30 am to the doctor in Reno 1.5 hours away, then there until 7:30pm for outpaitent surgery before the drive home, arrival at 11:00pm) They should have gotten a hotel and driven home the next morning to be safe. This is the kind of stuff they can't get away with if they live in the same town as us. Of course we'd be driving them to stuff like this, or drop off and pick up at least.

Well, better topic....LOVE THAT DRESS. You keep showing these cutie pie styles that make me think I really have to drop some weight to be able to enjoy wearing that kind of stuff too. I found a good 0 calorie water this weekend, I think it was called Fruit 2 0. It was really sweet, it might just be my ticket to a diet this summer.

Hey I just realized we are exactly 6 months from leaving for our trip to WDW !!!! We leave on 12/18 red eye, oh my gosh!!!

I'm in line with you guys on the black capris. I bought a cute slinkly tank and capri set a couple of months ago, I'm hoping the pants will be able to wear with some other tops (yet to have purchased)

I'm getting myself stuck on what size and kind of suitcases to bring. a few really big ones or shall I stick the kids stuff in there own suitcases smaller ones? Formal stuff in one suitcase maybe? That we don't even have to unpack in WDW only on the ship? Where will put all the darn suitcases after we unpack, is the room big enough for all the crap that I plan on bringing???? ahhhh, only 6 more months to stress, plan and then gooooooo!

DS is calling me to help him with the new Buzz lightyear game online, must be off....

Nan

Nan, even if/when I lose weight, I'm NOT going to be as slim as the bod in the dress I posted! But I can still wear cute clothes on a big body! I'm tired of wearing baggie Ts on vaca.

Kris, Nan, Grim, Franco, lurkers, if you feel comfortable posting pics of your self and family, we'd love to see you!

I'd post the picture if I could spend the time to figure it out !!!

I'm not shy of how we look (the kids are adorable, I'm not biased huh?) I'm a huge matchey matchey outfit planner, so when I get this techno stuff done, you'll see lots of us in the same outfits!!!

Only one more day until DISNEYLAND!!! How can I get the laundry done, pack and get work wrapped up, ahhhhhggggg, and not tell the kids, it's killing me.....

Gotta go to the bank now, bye,

Nan
