Ok, ok... I know. JUST DON'T EAT THEM! But I should make some for my kids, right? Isn't that a good Christmas memory? Mom baking in the kitchen, yummy smells, etc...

But, what the memory doesn't show is Mom binging on the raw cookie dough and half the cookies that come out of the oven!

So... do I make some I purposefully don't like? (Not many, lol)

Do I not allow myself any? One a day? Not make them at all?

How is everyone else handling cookies and sweets this holiday season? Abstinence, moderation, eat all you want and lose it in January?

Just wondering...

I have to go without totally or it triggers a binge. I have more than once had to make a second batch so my family wouldn't know how many I'd eaten!!!!

If you can restrict yourself then I don't think one a day would be too bad.

I don't eat white flour so I won't be making or eating cookies, this year. My son is all grown up, though, so I don't face the same situation you have.

I'll be making Atkins-friendly cookies for us (and the rest of our families) to enjoy, personally.

I think you can probably make something that fits in with your lifestyle, and gives the same kind of warm memories you have, without all the calories/carbs/sugar/fat/whatever that neither you, nor your children, need.

Moderation for me.

Life's just not quite as much fun if you can't have ANY goodies!

I enjoy baking and decorating cakes and cookies, then giving them to friends and neighbors or coworkers. I do try to not have goodies hanging around at my house, but I will have a small serving now and then.

My DD's (9 & 6) have great Christmas memories of making cookies etc. So I will be making the Christmas goodies with them. However this year I do not intend to eat any of them. So there will be more for everyone else (much more :D )

I am constantly baking something for my sons Kindergarten class...each Friday we bring something in for them that Andrew has helped me bake...but this is the way I look at it...I picture these cupcakes or cookies or brownies attached to my butt! LOL That way it discourages me from eating even a tiny bit! I certainly don't need the added weight, especially there! It works for me! ;)

Cookies are a big favorite of mine! My sister doesn't have any children and loves to bake (and spend time with her nieces). So we go to her house and I watch while they do all the cooking. It helps to be apart from the actual touching of the dough and removal of the warm cookies from the oven. We get the warm memories and the kids come home with a little baggie of cookies (and believe me, they know how many they have - no sneaking around here!), and I don't have to have chocolate chips or frosting in my house. Of course, this only works if you have family nearby or if you could find a nice older lady who would enjoy the company. Good luck.

I know I'll bake, solely for youngest DS(9). I always baked with oldest DS(16) and my youngest is very sensitive to being treated "fairly" in comparison to his older brother. I'll keep some cookies & bring some into work. My office is full of EATERS. But since DH & I lost weight (We work together), the SB diet book has been loaned throughout the office & there are a few less eaters.

I made some Pillsbury break and bake cookies this past weekend. My DH snuck 3 cookies and my DS started yelling, "Mom, Daddy stole 3 cookies! Hurry up! Call the diet people and tell on Daddy!"

I'll be baking for Christmas, but not like I used to. If I can find some lo carb cookie recipes, then DH and I can indulge, too. If not, they'll be for the kids and for gifts.

I won't be eating any that have white flour or sugar in them. I am strong willed like that.

My dd and I will be making low carb Snickerdoodles. :)

This is my "plan"

I am going to make cookies, maybe not as many as usual. I plan to freeze them and use them on 3 occasions: my husband's family's christmas party, Christmas Eve and Christmas day.

I think that knowing that I WILL get to eat them will help me keep from picking at them.

On those three days and Thanksgiving I have an eating plan. I am going to limit myself to one plate of food and one small dessert plate. I can eat whatever i want, but no picking and no seconds.

That is my PLAN I hope that it works.

Holiday baking is a tradition in my family and a part of my holiday memories. I'm sure my DD and I will do some cookie baking, just not as much as I have in the past.

One suggestion I have, and what I plan to do myself, is to take some time to do Christmas crafts with the kids. This way you still get that bonding/memorable time together, but there aren't those plates of cookies calling your name when you're done.
