Is a mass scheduled somewhere for Christmas? I'd read in the past that it is sometimes at the Contemporary Resort. Anyone know about a schedule for this year? TIA

There is, but...

if you can get to the Mary, Queen of the Universe Shrine, it's absolutely wonderful. Just next to the "newer" Belz outlet mall.

There is generally a mass in the Fantasia Ball room at the contemporary. The last couple of years the mass times have been 8:00 am and 10:15am. Staff from Mary Queen of the Universe Shrine organize the Mass. Check with your resort at Check-in

As soon as I saw this thread title, I knew there would be mention of the Mary, Queen of the Universe Shrine.

I don't know if there is anything on Disney property, but the Mary Shrine is very close. But beware, it is extremely popular and if you decide to go there I'd advise that you arrive early. The main road leading to the shrine is also the main road leading to the apartment complexes for Disney's college program interns. On Sundays and Wednesdays, it easily took an extra hour to get home because of the huge line of cars.

Thanks! I was trying to get a feel for what might be available before we arrive, but I'll check with the Contemporary Resort when we get to WDW. We're staying offsite this time--is the mass just for wdw resort guests?

We did this last year. There was very little, if any, advertisments of the mass.......we called the Contemporary ourselves. SO be aware of that.

The ballroom was quite full, and it was a wonderful treat to be at mass with all sorts of other travelers

I swear, no exageration. There are alternate ways of getting to the apartments than that main road, but the bus only took this one route. If you had a car, you could bypass it, but I didn't take a car for my program. I dreaded working into the evenings on Sundays and Wednesdays.

*ahem* Sorry, thread hijacking over!

I do not know if the Christmas Masses are for "Resort Guests" only. We stay on property so it never entered my mind. Last year the Priest that said the Masses was wonderful and it is really a prayerful experience.

We're there earlier in December (9-16)...I assume off-site is our only option, so how is traffic when you have your own car? We're planning on hitting the later mass on Sunday and then going into EPCOT. Need to rest up from cruising a week before. ;)

Any advice is appreciate.

Thanks!
Chris :)

We go to the "Queen" every year while at WDW during Spring Break. The key is get over there NO LATER then 1/2 hour before the scheduled Mass time ( 1 hour to forty five minutes is even better ). I don't remember having any trouble getting there, it was leaving that took so much time. The Sheriff Dept. has traffic control there to help keep traffic moving when Mass lets out. We always walk the grounds and then visit the gift shop so by the time we leave the traffic is about normal  . Also, we have attended Mass at the Contemporary Resort ballroom, at Easter. We took the internal transportation so we had no issues with parking, and we get there very early. Masses are usually a couple hours apart to make the transition less congested.

If you can attend a Mary, Queen of the Universe, Mass, I would highly recommend it, the Shrine is one of the most beautiful Chapels we have even been in.

There is a back way out of the area that will save you TONS of time.
If you drive past the Publix, you end up on I-Drive South, make a right go to the end, another right and you will sail past all the traffic and find yourself back on Disney property.

DON'T Pass Up The Opportunity to Experience Mary Queen of the Universe Shrine!!!!!!!!!!

Mildly off topic, but I loved when they used to do weekly Sunday mass at the Poly. I thought it was so beautiful to be at mass outdoors when in the quiet... I wish they still did it!!
