Christmas cards that don't make the cut...

How many parents out there try to capture the "perfect" picture of the children to send the family for Christmas?

Well, every year we take what seems like endless pictures and usually have to "settle" on the one that looks the best of the bunch.

Having 3 children makes this task a challenge, so this year I set up the tripod and began snapping away with my wife standing behind me giving out orders to the uninterested ones. "Smile", "look at daddy", "say merry christmas"... you get the point.

Well after 37 group photos and several individual shots here are some that didn't make the cut (as my wife likes to call it).

The warm up. I knew we were in for trouble after taking this one of the boys :)

Merry Christmas Fiends!

Oh and in case you were curious, we ended up taking 3 individual pictures and imposing them together on one card!

I agree with everyone else. I think they're all cute. :)

Why do we try so hard to have our children "act" for the camera? Personally, I like honest pictures of them just being who they are.

Tom-

Thanks for sharing those!

They made me smile.

I'm a bit older than you, and when we first started doing the annual photo of the kids for a Christmas card, there weren't digital cameras- we had to use film. So, we would sometimes use two or three rolls of film, hoping that we would get a good photo to use. Even with all of the photos, our Christmas card photo was often a matter of choosing the best photo that we could live with. The funny thing is that we kept all of the rejects, and when we look back at them now, some of those photos are really great. So, be sure to keep these all! They will be fun to look back on some day.

I agree with this! Some of our favorite photos now are the ones where nobody was posing or making a fake smile.:thumbsup2

Cute! I think that any of them could have been "the one"!

Thanks Lisa, all of these photos make us laugh when we look at them.

There all great, just send all 12.

Merry Christmas. :thumbsup2

Thanks! I'm going to try and post a picture of the final result. It came out pretty neat.

LOL!! love them all! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you !

Funny we are the same way, well except for Christmas photos of course. My wife is always snapping candid shots and we agree that the natural photos are the best when it comes to kids (11 months out of the year anyhow)
:)

Agreed, we have a file of all of our attempts from past years and we like to look at them every now and again. It is great capturing kids innocence and personality that comes out in photos.

Microsoft has that new program coming out (free download via Southwest airlines!) where you take the good faces of this pic, and paste it on the body of that pic. It's cool. Use that next year:)
