Not sure if this is the appropriate place to ask, but does anyone have any ideas about a great Disney background, etc. for a Christmas card? We're going in August, so I'd love to take a great photo, which incorporates Disney, for my Christmas card this year. My only concern is that I'd like to be able to see my daughter in the picture, not just all Disney. Thanks in advance for any tips!

We did a really nice card last year in front of the castle with the entire family in it and it turned out very nicely. I'm not exactly sure because we've never been in the summer, but you may be able to have some Christmas-y backgrounds in the Christmas store at DTD, or I think there might be a Christmas store at MK.

I don't know how helpful that is but there you go! :confused3 :rotfl:

We are going in July and I am planning the same thing.
I think I am just going to take a bunch of family shots in different places and pick the best pictures. Many sites offer cards with more than one picture so I may do a family shot and then one of each of the boys doing their favorite thing at disney.

At the Studios there is a snowman (or two) outside of the Christmas store. I took a few pictures there in the past, as well as Blizzard Beach.

Last year we went minature golfing and did the Winter side (as the place next to Blizzard Beach) and they had some great things to take pictures with (tree with presents, a huge sleigh the kids can sit in - it has presents and golf clubs in the back of it).

I recieved two Christmas cards this past year that were Disney-oriented. The first was a photo collage of different pics of the sender's child at Disney...with a princess, with Minnie, etc. It was cute. The seal on the back of the envelope was a photo sticker of the child in a Minnie costume with their dog, who was wearing Mickey ears.

The other was a pic of the sender's two girls, in regular clothes, in front of the castle. It wasn't anything Christmas oriented, just two kids at Disney.

I loved the first one...it was very original. The second was just a picture of two kids at disney world. (Which is great, don't get me wrong.) Maybe you could sneak in a santa hat to wear! (People may look at you weird in July, but I bet you wouldn't be the first to do this!)

We wanted to do this for our card last year and I found (what I thought was) a perfect location. In DTD outside of the back entance of the Christmas Shop are statues of Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy throwing snowballs with a banner that says Happy Holidays. You might want to check it out if you head to DTD.

in downtown disney, I wanna say near once upon a toy, maybe closer to wolfgang puck or even rainforest cafe. I know it is down that end, on the back side of the stores close to the parking lot there is a Happy Holidays backdrop with Mickey and friends. We do our picture there.

Thank you all so much for the suggestions. I will be printing out our thread and bringing it with me in August, so I won't be kicking myself when I get home because I missed a golden opportunity. Maybe I'll try them all and just see which one comes out best, since my DD has a habit of closing her eyes every time I take a picture! Thanks again all and have a Magical Day!

I always try to do a pic at the Christmas scene in DTD (it is behind the Christmas Store) but it never comes out. I have had good luck w/the log bench w/the pooh characters in DTD (across from the main entrance of the Christmas store). There are also some large, fun Lego sculptures in DTD - not Christmasy, but fun, and there is also a bronze Goofy sitting on a bench in MK. Have fun....it will be a lot of fun looking for the perfect picture spot. I also like the idea of carrying some santa hats for the photo!

Just bring some Santa hats with you (or get them in DTD) and snap a pic in front of the castle. Or you can buy the Christmas sweaters for next to nothing (under $10 each) on the disney store website and throw them on for the picture. Or bring hats/scarves and put them on.

We took our Christmas picture in the rose garden with the castle behind us, 1 of just my son with his Mickey sweater and Santa hat and one of the 3 of us. We happened to be there in December and brought our Disney Christmas sweaters (purchased just for the picture and MVMCP - my husband was so thrilled ;) ). Honestly, you had no way of knowing it was December in the picture - we could have taken it in May and no one would have known.

I'm so stupid sometimes! It took a few people (I'm obviously a little slow today!) to mention Santa hats before I realized, last time I was in Disney (Feb. 06) they had leftover Mickey ears/Santa hats and we bought two. I can't believe I didn't think of it! I can bring those Mickey ear Santa hats and it won't cost a thing and then it will even further bring Disney into the picture! Thanks for being my brains today! :dance3:

Sorry, but I have another question. I don't see any pics or links and this isn't the first time today. People keep saying in other posts (and this one), thanks for the pics, great pics, etc., but I'm not seeing anything. Is it because I'm a newbie? I know I can't post pics, etc., so I'm thinking it's probably the same reason. Thanks.

Not Disney, but we did this on the beach in Maui a few years ago in October. I packed Santa hats for my boys and took their pictures on a beach with their boogie boards and hats. They weren't pleased but I had a couple of Moms say to me, "I wish I'd thought of that!" I put a title of "Maui Christmas" on the pictures, too.

Have fun! We'll be taking our hats with us when we go to WDW in November for our Christmas pictures this year! I'm so excited!!!!

Behind the Contemporary is a large metal sculpture of mickey ears with a smaller mickey sitting in the middle of the ears. The inside of the ears on the larger sculpture is clear plexiglass. We came across this by accident last year, after taking the searacers out for a spin. We had our DD10 and DS7 sit inside each of the ears and took a picture. It cam out so well that we used it for our Christmas card. After we sent the card out several friends and family contacted us to ask where in Disney it was taken. Since many are Disney veterans we were excited that we had found something new to share with them. HTH:)

When we were in Disney I was obsessed with getting the *perfect* Christmas card pic. What I got was 3 VERY grumpy kids making miserable faces in front of the castle. So we decided to move from NY to FL and we got a beautiful palm pic!

We used one of our photopass pics for our Xmas card last year. We were sitting in front of the Mickey/Walt statue (so Castle was also kinda visible in the background). You can also order photopass xmas cards that have Disney characters on the cards if you really want the Disney touch.
