HI everyone. We leave on Friday for WDW and one of the best things about going at this time is I can get a great Xmas card photo of my kids! My plan is to take it in the Wilderness Lodge lobby. Anyone's opinion? I have heard the decorations there are the best. We are staying at Old Key West this time but will visit the Lodge for some meals.

Any better ideas? I wondered about the Grand Floridian but see that their tree is much maligned this year!

Thanks for your input!

one year we took a picture at the lodge by a small tree. it was in the corner and we just pulled up a chair. my husband sat and i stood sorta behind him. it came out great w/the snaller tree. it was in the entire pic. it was near the ramp going down to roaring forks. however, the decorations are so unusual at OKW that those would make a great photo also. good luck!

DTD has some great op's outside the Disney Christmas Store.

Whatever place you choose, it's Disney, so it will be terrific!::yes::

Disney Christmas store? Huh?

Where is this magical place? It's been so awful hot on our last visits that we have just done the World of Disney then left... Is it open all year?

We are going to try and get our Christmas card picture at Disney also.

Instead of a tree background, we may try the gingerbread house at GF. If you are going to MVMCP, the decorated Cinderella's coach may be a neat idea.

Hopefully, there will be a lot of great ideas all around.

Good luck.....we are more worried about getting 3 small children to look at the camera and smile-this is always quite the ordeal (ha).

The store is in Downtown Disney and IS open year round! Called Disney's Day of Christmas.

If you develop your photos vis Snapfish, you get one roll free for first timers AND you can get great christmas cards made and ordered right from the sight. If you want more info on this, or ANYONE, please pm me with your name and email address. I get a bonus for referrals.

Blizzard beach has a good photo op spot: a big sleigh set up and plenty of fake snow

I posted a similar note last month for our trip we just completed. Got great feedback. The trees are spectacular at the hotels but in order to get the tree, your family will appear very tiny. If you zoom in on your family, you don't get the tree.
The suggestion that we used was the Winterlan Summerland miniature golfcourse. Some very cute opportunities for photos and a fun time for the family. Its adjacent to Blizzard Beach (which is currently closed for rehab).
We tried the Christmas shop at DTD but it was too crowded to get a photo op.

Thanks all. DisDad, we may try the golf course. My kids are always bugging me to do minigolf, but it's been so terribly hot when we visited that we vetoed the course. This trip it will be cooler and I may kill 2 birds with 1 stone (golfball). I am not above bribing my 2 little devils and telling them that if they pose, we can play!

2 years ago we had a 8:05ps(non ee day) at CP in the MK. We took some pics of the kids on Main Street with just them and the Castle in the background. They were PERFECT for our cards and it looked like we were the only people there! :D We also got some good shots with Santa at DTD, but opted for the castle background as DS and DD were actually hugging in one shot out of excitement(and they usually would NOT hug!). We were staying at WL at the time, but the kids DID look small by that tree in the pictures.
We will be trying over Thanksgiving next week to get a picture for this years cards. Will have to be more creative since it will be crowded. May try to get one at AKL since we will be staying there, but not sure WHERE to take it. Would love an animal in the background ::yes:: .

Look for me... I'll have my green Mickey ears on my bag and my Passporter pin on... I'll be the one with the camera! :earsgirl:

We just returned from Disney and tried to take some family Christmas photos. We chose 2 different locations. The first was the snow scene by the Christmas store in DTD. It is located to the left just as you enter the Marketplace. Because we stayed at the YC, we also took a family photo by the Christmas tree in the lobby there. I haven't had a chance to get our photos developed so I can't tell you how they came out.

One thing, IMHO, is that I think a picture is more special if it is actually part of your vacation. I mean, wouldn't the tree in the lobby of where you are staying have more meaning than from another resort? Visiting DTD...then the winter scene there is great. Of course, pictures of your children are priceless no matter.

Disneyolic, you are right. I sort of thought OKW would have no "major" decoration because it is not a place with much of a lobby. BUt we will certainly take photos there -- someone posted here about their cool decorations. We also love Downtown Disney and will take some there. We have a digital camera and pretty much take zillions of photos of every trip, so some are BOUND to turn out nice. I am just excited that this year our card will be from somewhere at WDW!

The Germany pavillion at the WS has really beautiful Christmas decorations. We took our Christmas card photo there three years ago.

Thanks to all of you for posting all your great ideas for holiday pictures.

The question I have is WHERE do we get our film developed into picture-cards to mail out to our family and friends while we are at Disney over the holidays?

Is there a photo place within WDW that can make these photo cards? About how much will this cost? Do you think it would be better to go out to International Drive, i.e. Eckert Drugs, and get the film 1-hour developed and then order the cards to be printed? I wonder how long this will take.

Thanks for your help, and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

We get our photo cards at Sam's Club. If the one in Orlando has a 1-hour photo, they can do these for you at GREAT prices -- I usually spend well under $50 and get 100 lovely cards. You can't beat Sam's! Our Club has had the photo department for 2 years, and both times the cards have been really nice.

Seems like any 1-hour photo place could do it. There is a Walgreen's just up from Goodings at the Crossings and I think they have a photo department.

Colleen, thanks for the suggestion of Sams Club and Walgreens.

I was hoping to find a place on WDW property that would make the photo-cards so we won't have to drive anywhere. Really hate renting a car for 15 days when we'll only use it once or twice!!!

Has anyone used Disney's photo finishing service?

~Wendy

Call the Disney Guest Services and ask! We may have ours done on the cruise, it's only $40 for 100! :teeth:
