Hi all. For my 'office mates' this year I want to give Christmas candy/cookies/treats. Any good (cheap) easy recipes that you like to give as gifts? :goodvibes

Oreo truffles......I found them on the Disboards last year and made them....holy cow did they go fast.....you can also find nutter butter truffles. Google it and you find the recipe. Its basically just oreos crushed up with cream cheese a little vanilla and dipped in chocolate. You can drizzle different color chocolate over the milk chocolate for quiet a fancy presentation. Yum!

Me too! My son loves them. He keeps asking me if we are making them this year.

I make pretzel treats every year for neighbors and friends. I use a waffle pretzel and put a Hershey kiss on them. Put them in a warm oven for about 10 minutes and then press a M&M in the center. They are always very popular and are cheap and easy to make. Here is the link with the instructions:

We do these with the ring pretzels (available during the holidays). If you use a Hugs kiss, they're striped.

A friend of mine says she uses Rolos instead of the kisses -- They sound great, but I've not tried it.

Caramel Corn!!! This is a fail-safe recipe: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/My-Amish-Friends-Caramel-Corn/Detail.aspx. It's really simple to buy cheap fabric and sew up a festive bag -- put the corn in a ziploc bag and then the bag in the cloth one. Tie up with a ribbon, and it's really nice.

I've also got a homemade hot cocoa mix recipe that I do with the bags as well.

Today I made caramel corn, wrapped portions in cellophane holiday bags with silver twist-ties. Got the bags at Michaels for $1 for 24 bags. Also, I made homemade marshmallows covered in chocolate and used the same treat bags, and put the bags in holiday "take-out" style containers also from the craft store(don't want them to get smashed in transit). Marshmallows take a bit of practice with the techniques, but are fairly inexpensive to make and people have come to expect them from me at the holidays. I will also make chocolate pizelles sandwiched with chocolate icing.(hopefully this evening)Anyway, people are always appreciative of baked-goods gifts. Have fun:thumbsup2

They look great and easy to make. Thank you so much for sharing. I am picking up the ingredients to make them this weekend.

I always do almond bark covered pretzels. Super easy. Melt the bark and dip the pretzel. Put on wax paper to cool. I sprinkle christmas colored jimmy's on them most of the time.

Here's another good one...

Cover a jelly roll pan with a single layer of Club crackers. Melt 1 cup sugar and 2 sticks of butter together in a saucepan. Bring to a rolling boil and boil for 3-4min. Pour sugar/butter mixture on top of crackers & spread. Bake at 400 for 6min. Remove and pour one 12oz pkg of semisweet choc chips on top. As they melt spread them over the top... Place pan in freezer for 1 hr. for choc to set. When you remove from freezer, break into chunks.

This is a great idea. Do you have any trouble with the chocolate getting too soft at room temperature once they're done?

I make these with mini-twist pretzels and they kind of, sort of look like a reindeer.

Nope, never had a problem with that. Almond bark is pretty hard at room temperature so they are fine. If you leave them in a hot car maybe, but where I live that is never a problem at Christmas :rotfl:.

rachael Ray has a fantastic/easy/cheap holiday fudge wreath that is always a HUGE hit. She has several different variations on it but we always make the Chunk bar one. Delish!:cool1:
