Does anybody know what they are going to do with the Christmas bunting hung across Main Street? I read long ago that they won't be able to do it like they have in the past due to the new floats for the Festival of Fantasy parade being taller. Think they'll just move the bunting up to the tops of the buildings?

I love the look of the bunting at Christmas.

Just as a guess, but if it turns out to be true that the parade floats are too tall to allow it to be strung across Main Street as usual, I believe they will likely not use it at all.

We will know soon enough. But if it's gone (as I assume it will be) I will miss it greatly. It added so much to the décor and feel of Main Street.

Agreed.

If they don't put it up - I'd like to think they'd at least put it up for Christmas week (when the fantasy parade doesn't run)

I am one that never liked the bunting. It blocks the view of the castle when you are on mainstreet so in pictures the castle is all bunting unless taken closer to castle. Also blocks the view of the fireworks.

Here is a bunting-less photo taken last year for me by Tim from the Magic in Pixels:

That's really unfortunate! The bunting really added to Main Street. I loved the multi-color lights mixing with the white lights on the buildings. It really stood out - especially with the icicle lights on the castle as a backdrop..

That's really unfortunate! ..

Im not sure anyone has confirmed its not being put up. If the floats are indeed taller, they could still string them up from the tops of the buildings. This should provide enough room fro the floats and it would make the castle more viewable from main street.

Either way, the decorations should be going up after park closing tonight, so we could possibly know by tomorrow.

There were a series of construction permits field earlier in the year with the description "Investigate Location of Holiday Arch". The permit locations were for each of the four main buildings along main street. Based on this it appears that a new type of higher arch was being investigate. Guess we will know in a few days if this is happening or not.

I had heard right after the new parade was discussed that the floats would be too tall for the swags and garland and wreaths to hang across Main St. the way they have for years. Made me sad. I'm glad I have lots of photos of Main St. decorated with the garland across.
Never had any trouble taking lots of pictures of the castle from many angles and not "blocking" any of it with the decorations. With all the work they do decorating MK I can't imagine they'd put those up and take them down after just one week.
Lots of traditions have disappeared...............
:sad1:

I will miss it greatly and was not thrilled when I heard this some time back, but after actually seeing the FOF parade, I might not miss it quite as much. That parade is fabulous! Those floats are huge though- I can't imagine they are short enough to go under the bunting. Plus, I can see the Maleficent fire breathing dragon raising it's huge head and torching the buntings. It would be great if they could find some way to still use it though!

They will probably "project" them across some day knowing the way technology progresses.

At the end of the night just turn them off-no clean up necessary and floats can drive through them.

It is such a small detail but I'm really hoping they do put the Christmas bunting across Main Street this year!! When I imagine going to Disney World during Christmas the Main Street decor is the biggest thing I imagine walking into. It will be a small disappointment not to see it :sad1:

I agree. I hope they figure something out. We will find out soon!!

I'm with you, I hated that it blocked the castle view from the train station and honestly I think it looks tacky, too.

I feel the same way you do.

I'm not a fan either. I think I prefer it without.

I would be OK with them leaving it out if they would really decorate the outside of the MS buildings. Since the tree usually doesn't go up until after the parade taping at the beginning of December, MS won't look very festive for the first few MVMCPs unless they do something else.

That's why the previously mentioned arches may appear. Disney has had well over a year to plan this because as soon as FoF was announced, they knew which floats were being imported and would cause the problem with the bunting.

DD is a friend of a character on Monstro, which was imported from Tokyo DL, and that was one of the main floats they knew would be the problem as soon as FoF was mentioned and the floats were identified.
