How crowded is it during the Christmas holidays - say, compared to the summer season? Had a trip planned in October for fall break but looks like won't have a long enough break. Am considering changing to Christmas. Have a 16 year old boy that I want to be able to do the teen things. Don't want him to think it's lame - he's not aware of the trip and I'm not sure how "cool" he'll think it is. Plan to stay at WL - any suggestions????

Thanks!

Hi Myrtle,

It is as crowded over Christmas as it is now---July 4 week.

Which is to say that it is more crowded than most of the summer, and it is probably the most or second most crowded week of the year. Now and Christmas week are 1A and 1B.

I have been for the 4th of July and Christmas. Christmas is MUCH MORE CROWDED!

My husband, who is a pretty hardy soul, got an anxiety attack one year because of the crowds around It's a Small World. He was convinced one of the children would be crushed.

It probably depends on the day of the week where the holidays fall, but on our last trip we skipped Christmas day because of rain. We had been there the week prior and it wasn't too bad. Starting the day after Christmas, it got progressively worse every day until the New Years gridlock.

We are going back this year, but will be in Orlando 12/22 - 12/29. We probably will try to go to the parks early on and skip the last few days.

The week between Christmas and New Years are the most corwded at WDW. We went the week before Christmas last year and found it tolerable with the crowds increasing as we got closer to the 25th. We spent Christmas Day with family in the area and checked out the next day. If you could go the week before Christmas or the week after NYs it would be better. Just do not plan to see every show and ride every ride. Christmas is gorgeous at WDW, everyone should do it just once! BTW, we homeschool but the schools in Texas are doing away with fall break. It was messing up the tourist industry because all of the teens had to quit their summer jobs to go back to school. Be glad you still have a fall break!

Thanks to all for the information. Am awaiting word from the school for the dates of Christmas break. Believe I'll shoot for the week before Christmas as suggested. I really appreciate your help.
