Christmas Attendance

I am considering cancelling our Med cruise in 2010, and going to Florida instead in December 2010 - I have always wanted to see the parks decorated for Christmas!

I know attendance is very high over Christmas (especially Christmas day), but I would definitely want to be there for then; for anyone who has been over that period, is it busier the week before Christmas or the week after, or is it all pretty much the same? If we went at the start of December would the parks be decorated still, and would that be a better time, crowd-wise?

I am very torn about going back to the same place just to see a few trees (we had said we were going to have a couple of years off Florida after May, yeah right ) but I have always wanted to see the parks decorated!!

The park will get steadily busier as the month goes on and hit peak between Christmas Day and New Year (I spent Christmas Day at MK and it was bearable). It is great to see the parks decorated so would highly recommend it.

Christmas is most definitely a great time to go, we love going Christmas time just to see all the decorations and we're planning on end of November beginning of December next year.
Honestly is a great time to go, I would personally go the beginning of December when crowds are much better, all the decorations are up and MVMCP and candlelight procession are on.

Chrsitmas is our favourite time and NYE is just magical but the crowds are terrible. The best we ever did was to fly out on 16 December and then back again on 2 Jan. From the 16th for a good 6 days it was not that busy and we did all of the rides. From the 23rd onwards it got steadily busier. I think if you can plan to do all of the rides well before Christmas and then do the shows over the Christmas period, with a few rides thrown in then you will get to do everything you want.

MVMCP was fantastic and I have seen it many, many times. The Carol Concert at Epcot is a must as it's just lovely.

Christmas really is a magical time of year.

wish I hadn't read this post, we are planning our first trip next year and I'm really torn between October and December. I've visited DLP to see the Halloween celebrations and Christmas celebrations and we just can't decide which one to go for on our first big trip, I was swaying towards Halloween until I read this and now I'm confused again

If you could swing it, the first couple of weeks in December would be awesome. It will be quiet in the parks and all the Christmas stuff will be happening. I was there in December 05 until 22nd December and the parks where just starting to get busier the last couple of days.

Mind you, when I was there in 2006, they started putting up some Christmas decorations at the beginning of November.

I have gone after Christmas a few times and the crowds tend to disappear on 2nd January.

How do you think I feel?! I have already planned and booked next years trip!! All along my DH has been saying "you know we will end up back in Florida"!!! I hate it when he's (probably) right!!

That sounds great - so the crowds are fairly light the first couple of weeks, but the hotels and parks are fully decorated, and the Christmas parades are on? I must see the decorations and parades! I have been jealous of so many trip reports set in December!
