Our first priority was food. I am a total crab when I’m hungry and it was taking all of my reserves to be civil and start our trip off on a happy note. We ended up at Pizzafari. Surprisingly, the lines weren’t bad at all, especially since it was noon by this point. It didn’t take us too long to get our food & there were plenty of open tables. We looked over our map while we ate and decided to hit the safari and the walking trails first. Christmas Day, according to our tram CM, was the only second day for nighttime safaris, but the walking trails closed around sunset.

We walked back to Africa, pausing a times to check out the Tree of Life and some of the animal enclosures on the way. When we got to the safari there was only a 20 minute wait so we just got in the stand-by line. None of the animals were very active, but we did get to see them. The only thing I didn’t care for was the lame poacher story line. I can appreciate Disney trying to educate people about the problem of poaching, but it just contrived. I felt so sorry for the poor CM standing there all day holding a fake gun. He didn’t look too enthused to be there & I can’t blame him.

After the safari, we went to Conservation Station, which I guess is now being called Rafiki’s Planet Watch. I was going to skip it because it didn’t sound too interesting, but my boyfriend wanted to check it out because they had a petting zoo (he’s 33). I liked the fact that the animals had a couple of roped off areas they could escape to and that they had brushes to use on the animals. My boyfriend was wearing a shirt with a chest pocket that was apparently very intriguing to a goat. He bent down to pet him/her & CHOMP! The goat started nibbling on the pocket and our park map. Thank goodness all it got was fabric!! That would not have been a good start to our trip if skin had been involved.

We left the petting zoo & went into the Conservation center. We stopped briefly at the animal food section, but I took off once I saw the CM passing around a mealworm (YUCK!!). We looked around a little bit & watched the beginning of a presentation about a green tree snake. The sound booths were all taken so we headed back to the train.

It was getting close to sundown so we did the walking trails next. Those were crowded when we went, probably because they were closing soon. We took our time, enjoying the details of the enclosures & the different animals. We managed to stumble across the “secret path”, but I can’t remember exactly where we were.

On our way back towards the front of the park, we grabbed Fast Passes for It’s Tough to Be a Bug. Had we checked out Dinosaur first, we would have gotten Fast Passes there instead since wait for Bug was much less. The most time spent in line for our entire trip was at Dinosaur, but it was only 45 minutes. I enjoyed Dinosaur, but my boyfriend felt a little woozy after being shook up so much. In a way, I’m glad that ITTBAB was our last attraction of the day because it kicked butt. We went in not knowing what to expect. Apparently, so did the woman sitting next to us, because she jumped 20 feet at a couple of points.

Afterwards, it was about 5pm and we had seen everything we were interested in. We didn’t feel like seeing Pocahontas or Tarzan, and we were still a little tired from getting in so late. So, we called it a day & headed out of the parks back to the hotel. We got something to eat on 192 and were back at the hotel in time for Monday Night Football (my boyfriend's a big Dallas fan)

Hopefully, the next installment won't take as long to do.

That goat tried to get mils wheelchair too. :D She thought it was so funny (much to our relief!) I'm glad you enjoyed your day at Animal Kingdom. Looking forward to hearing more.

It wasn't a goat but I have a picture of my dd with a bunny that is eating her ruffles on her dress and you can even see it in the pictures. Thanks for posting!
