Do the resorts do anything "special" on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day?

We are staying at the GF, so I was just wondering what and if they do anything on those 2 days for the guests.

We were there last Xmas. They delivered a beautiful platter of treats and a GF Xmas card on Xmas Eve afternoon. That night, Santa was in the lobby. Mickey and Minnie were there, too in the outfits in my siggy pic. There is constant Christmas music in the lobby - choirs, bells, piano, band.... Outside in front of the GF they hand out roasted chestnuts.

Also, the GF gingerbread decorator does demos in the lobby daily about 1.

Xmas morning the lobby was quiet and we finally got to take nice pics of my girls in front of the gingerbread house w/out others cutting in. They were passing out Xmas sugar cookies and punch in front. I don't remember Xmas Day as much, but it was continual holiday music and very bustling in the lobby most of the time.

It's also fun to go check out the other resorts and their decorations. CR had a cute pinochio gingerbread/chocolate scene in their lobby. Poly was lacking a bit this past year, YC/BC/BW and WL are pretty.

Happy planning! I loved staying at the GF for Xmas.

You sure can. We stayed 9 nts so we brought a cute Mickey head wreath to hang on the door....Disney lights draped by the window and a few more things. We ordered the Xmas tree from WDW Florist. OMG it was expensive, but absolutely to die for.....it was the sugar plum tree with large lollipops and stuffed Disney Characters on it. It even smelled sugary. You can bring your own, though. I read of lots of guests doing that.

Here's the treats & card that the GF gave every guest room

Have fun! The Grand is beautiful at Christmas.

Hit the snacks (cookies) at BWI on Xmas Eve. I think I read about those here or on the Travel Channel. They have some great chocolate displays at the YC too. We stayed at SOG and they had Santa in, I think almost all day, on Xmas Eve. And there were Carollers when we got back from our Cali Grill dinner. Awesome.

While we were there before Christmas and not actually Christmas we still ordered the same tree from the Disney Florist as Lives4Disney did. We were at the YC. It was gorgeous!!!!

OH MY GOSH! That tree was fabulous! If you dont mind me being nosey, what was the ballpark amount you paid for it, and how did you go about ordering it?

Thanks

Instead of starting a new thread, I was wondering if anyone has details on what the moderates do for Christmas? We've been to Disney lots, but I've only been once at Christmas for a day trip. I'm wondering if there's enough to keep us busy for 8 days if we only hit the parks for 2 or 3. Is swimming out of the question?

Lives4Disney, that plate of sugarplum treats is so beautiful, I would have a hard time eating it!!:lmao:

I"m hoping I can copy a link in here. This is what one person sent me for Christmas at the Disney Resorts. I hope its a help. We'll be there at Christmas also.

Looking at that list it seems that either CSR does way more than the other mods, or the other mods information just isn't all there. I'm trying to finagle a Christmas trip in, although my DH hasn't agreed to one yet. He just said "show me the money".

lol do what I did.. sit down say this is how much we spend on the kids for christmas.. this is how much disney will cost.. guess what we're doing.. then he said you do realize I know you too well and you'll still shop for Christmas gifts while we're at Disney!!!

See, that's the problem. I would still want to "pick up" a few things while we were there. Actually our Christmas budget is rather small, around $400, although DH doesn't know that

I'm thinking seriously about it. We have no family within 1000 miles of us and we're heading to visit them at Thanksgiving, which would leave us celebrating alone at home again for the 3rd year in a row at Christmas - not that that's a bad thing, but it sure would be more fun to be "alone" at Disney World!

well its always.. are we going to your mom and dads or my dads and my stepmothers. Yes.. evil just like cinderellas. So we decided this year we're doing Christmas for us and enjoying it with the kids. It'll also be our sons bday while we're still there and he still believes in Santa so I have to get a couple of things down there. I start shopping for Christmas in June so I ALWAYS have way too much stuff for the kids. This year I've knit all the nieces n nephews afghans for their beds and ski sweaters so thats taken care of already. I'm kind of looking forward to it just being the 4 of us. Now if I could get my dad to come and leave the evil stepmother at home i'd be much happier but thats not going to happen.
