Ok, I looked on the calendar and noone on the board is staying at FW campgrounds around christmas. How is that possible?
Secondly just so everyone knows I was just told the free ddp promotion is not valid with the campgrounds. Has anyone heard any differently? Very disappointed!! Actually thinking of scrapping the whole trip.

I have never heard of Disney offering Free Dinning for campsite just Cabins

I am not sure which calendar you are referring to (maybe I am out of the loop) but I frequent these boards and my family will be there at Christmas! I am VERY excited as this is our first Christmas at Disney and at the Fort.

I don't know that FD has ever been offered at the campground. I can tell you that as long as my family has been going to Disney, they've never offered it for guests at the campground. It does not deter us from going to the Fort, but that's really an individual choice. We are, for the first time, staying in a hotel next month instead of at the Fort (with the exception of one night this past March when we spent one night at All Star Sports) and that's only because we had originally decided to take a 3 night cruise at the end of the week (which we have since cancelled but we did not change our reservation. While I am only slightly excited to stay in a hotel (and take advantage of FD), if I am being honest I would much rather be at the Fort. Just my two cents.

Sorry guys im just a little pissy because I called in yesterday and had everything set up for the free ddp with a disney rep. She never mentioned it was unavailable with the campgrounds. I told her I needed to call back, needed to talk it over with the Wife. When I called back this morning it was a nogo. Just got me riled up! Not cancelling, even a bad day at disney is better than a good day almost anywhere else! I just didnt know if I was being yanked around.

WOW!! Ok, I had no idea that existed but I just entered my dates in there. Not sure I did it right (but certainly someone will tell me so....) but they're there. :)

What time do the Christmas decos usually go down? We will be there from the 4th Jan. It would be bonus if there was still some lights up.

Disney will have their decorations down on Jan 2 the Fort decorators will start taking theirs down on Jan 2

We will be there for Chritmas the 17-31st. It is much cheaper staying at the Fort than the meal plan. A cabin was going to cost us 450.00 a day. I've rented a camper having it delivered with a golf cart for 200.00 per day. You cant even stay at a value resort for that price.

Yes, as you found out, Free dining is not good for the campsites. YOu can thank those that booked throw away sites for that. :scared1:

So there will probably be some left up when we get there on the 4th. Take your time Fort Decorators. Leave some up for us late Aussie travellers. We are coming a long way!!

When we were in San Francisco 3 years ago around the 2nd of Jan they still had their giant Christmas tree up by the ice skating rink. It was beautiful and added to the atmosphere and excitement. By the time we got to Disneyland they had closed the Haunted Mansion to change decos. We knew that in advance so were prepared.

You may get lucky.
You know there are always people that leave their decorations up longer.
Some, way too long.

1) Not feasable.
2) If they gave away dining, they lose net cash.
. . . free dining gets you to book and expensive room
. . . the hotel has to make money
. . . it is the hotel who actually pays for the free DDP
. . . not another dept of WDW
3) The campsites are not that expensive.
4) I do not see why you are upset.
5) No one, especially Disney, gives away things for free.
