Sunday morning brought nice skies and 9:30 am PS at Fresh, in the Dolphin. We walked over to the Dolphin and they had a very pretty tree set up in the lobby. Although I love holiday decorations, I was really excited to try Fresh. I had heard good things about it, and was hoping it would not disappoint. It is a buffet, with lots of choices: cereals, pastries, breads, eggs to order, meats, waffles, french toast and pancakes. Also have different juices. The man at the table behind us was being told by the waitress that he should have antioxidant juice to help with his hangover. I don't know if he did, but there sure was a lot of talk at the table about whether he should. The specials of the day were blueberry pancakes and cookie dough french toast. I love blueberry pancakes and they were delicious!! This restaurant did not disappoint and I will definitely be going back on our next trip!! Just one note...they do not accept WDW room charges so make sure to remember that. I knew that going in and would have been surprised had I not known beforehand. It was not very crowded, but it could have been that we were there a bit later.
We took the bus from the Dolphin to the AK, arriving about 11 am. Very big line to get in. We headed to the safari, where the sign said a 25 minute wait. We waited and it was actually more like 45 minutes, but whatever. It was cool outside and since bith kids were starting with coughs and colds, I knew that Kali River Rapids were not in the plans. We saw lots of animals, including both baby elephants. DS wanted to walk through the Pangani Trail, so we did. The gorillas were very active. By this time, the kids wanted a snack, so after a snack of chocolate chip cookies and a rice krispie bar, which was huge, we headed over to see the Festival of the Lion King. We have never seen this show, so it was one of our must do's. The next show would be in 30 minutes, so we waited. It was very good and the kids really enjoyed it. Since we were over in the area, we hung around Camp Minnie-Mickey and waited to see the characters. First up was Mickey and Minnie, both in their casual Christmas attire. Next came Santa Goofy and then Donald dressed in safari wear. The lines were not that long and while DH was taking pictures, we also used the photopass card that would enable us to see the pictures on our computer once we got home.
Next on our list of must-do's was the parade. Never have seen that. Mickey's Jingle Jammin Jungle Parade was very cute. We met up with my sister and her family here and watched together. We parted after the parade and walked around the Discovery Island Trails. The birds are so colorful. My favorite is the Hyacinth Macaw. Very bright blue-just so pretty. It was as if he knew DH was taking pictures of him because he started posing! It was the funniest thing! We took lots of pictures here on the trail. We really went at a slow pace to take it all in.
Dinner PS was at 5pm at the Rainforest Cafe. It wasn't fantastic, but it was good. This place is always so noisy, but that's okay. I don't think I would eat here again. Not for any specific reason, but just because we have done it a few times and have gotten our fill.
We left there and headed back to the Boardwalk. The first stop on the bus was the Swan, so we decided to get off here and walk. But first, we went to see the holiday decorations. By this time it was much cooler outside. We went back to the room and changed before heading out to Epcot. There was a group singing Christmas carols on the village green, and they were very good. Just a note: there was some kind of musical entertainment every night on the village green, in front of the Christmas tree.
First stop in Epcot: France for my must have eclair. DH had an apple turnover which was delicious. The eclair was not as enjoyable as the center was fozen! DD also had an eclair and same thing: frozen center. I was quite disappointed. We watched Illuminations from the bridge between France and United Kingdom and headed back to the boardwalk. We all fell asleep shortly after.
