Christmas at DVC

Need your opinions - we are thinking about a trip Dec 22 thru Dec 26 - is it possible to get a 1 BR still, or did we miss the boat by not reserving at the 11 mo window? I have read on these boards that early Dec is busy, is Christmas like impossible?

Never say never. You may or may not be able to get all your days on the first call. But, you've still got a long time between now and December. The waitlist has a very good chance of coming through for you. Also, you are at the beginning of the Christmas craziness. Some people don't come down until December 26.

It may not be as bad as you think. We made reservations 2 weeks ago for a 1 BR. for Dec. 23 to Jan. 2. We split our stay between OKW and BCV due to our own point availability.

I just switched an OKW reservation from 12/21-27 to 12/24/30. 2BR. No problem.

Since you're still before the 7 month window I think your chances are pretty good.

With Christmas being on a weekend this year and therefore lots of points, I don't think you will have a problem just yet. Give it a try.

Thanks for the encouragement, I thought we might be way too late! I'll call MS tomorrow and see - Nothing ventured, nothing gained! One more question - if we want to cancel a ressie for January and use those points toward Dec, can we do that all in one transaction? Thanks everyone!

I've planned DVC Christmas vacations in one bedrooms at OKW (at 10 months out) and BCV (7 months out) and in a studio at BWV (5 months out but was on a waitlist a very short time).

It definitely is possible. If they don't have what you want, go on a waitlist. I was encouraged by DIS'ers to do that last year and it worked!

Sure. Just ask about the availability and then tell them you'd like to cancel a reservation you have for January and use the points for this new December vacation. Remember to confirm everything was done correctly before you hang up so there's no confusion later.

I went 5 years in a row booking at the 7 month window. Never had a problem...We did OKW and VWL. If you want BW or BC you may have a harder time. That being said, I always read that VWL is impossible to get during the holidays.....We never did day by day or waitlisted. The only time I could not get my request was for the week after Thanksgiving. Apparantly, this is very big DVC time.
