Christmas all year long!

So we have not got through the second birthday party of the month.

Zach actually turns 18 this week, but since it was a long weekend and he is about to ship out, he had a party this weekend. It served as not only a bday party, but a going away.

Saturday morning, the guests started to arrive. By Saturday night I think there were a total of 15 or so boys in my house. Needless to say, we didn't get much sleep on Saturday. We had countless xbox's set up so they could play and they ate.

As of last night there were still a few that were here and this morning I took the last one to the train station. It was a long weekend, but I am glad that Zach was able to see all of his friends one more time before he leaves.

Aside from the party, I also did some shopping online today at Disneystore.com. 25% off clearance. :woohoo: I will have to post pics once the items come. I don't own any dooney and burke, but between the already reduced price AND the extra 25% off it was certainly tempting.

I am pretty exhausted from the weekend, and Alex and Zoe have the week off from school. I think it is going to be a long week... ;)

Ann, I know I've been missing, but I'm still here...I promise.

Glad Zach was able to celebrate his 18th birthday with his friends and that they had a good time.

I'm going to do some of that 25% shopping clearance myself when I get home.

No worries, Kathy. I know that you have had a ton on your plate.

I'm sure Zach had a great time with all his friends! You are one cool mama having 15 boys in your house AND surviving it! I'm not sure I could ever be that brave.

Can't wait to see all your deals that you bought! You are going to be loaded down by the time December gets here! :)

It has been funny how Christmas seems to be lingering and how I can so easily look to next Christmas. Most of this has had to do with my purchasing of clearanced holiday items... but... now we are getting weird weather. SNOW! Nothing stuck at my house, but the foothills where I live could see up to 7 inches before this week is over. We lost power today. I wasn't sure at first the reason. Sometimes we get freezing rain or the quite literal hurricane force winds and that will take down some lines. However today was something entirely different. I have yet to confirm, but... two separate pieces of information seem to have me drawing one conclusion. First, a funnel cloud was passing over our small town. Second, the city shut down a substation as a precaution or something. I have to wonder if the worry was that funnel cloud was going to cause trouble. So we were without power for about an hour or so...no biggie.

So I just had to share how it does still seem to be Christmas :goodvibes

Since it has been a month an a half since I posted anything substantial in the planning department, I figure it was time to infuse this PTR with a little trip enthusiasm.

So this being said... I have been struggling. Just yesterday, Steve talked with his folks and they still can not commit one way or another to if they are going to FL is December. Those last 4 or 5 nights are causing me such stress. I don't want to go home, but I also don't want to spend that much more on our trip. Plus, if I ever want Steve to go back, I shouldn't make him "endure" 11 nights at WDW. I have looked at cruises...but a Disney cruise over Christmas is too cost prohibitive and the only other cruse I found that would fit the budget would get us back on the 25th... and I definitely don't want to check out/in to anything ON Christmas. I don't know... maybe I will just rent a condo in FL and we will have a simple "away from home" Christmas. Course, for the cost of that and food... I bet adding 4 nights to our WDW trip would be about the same AND we could use DME to return to MCO. I have even toyed around with changing our resort to a mod in order to cut the cost down just a tad. I think a split stay could be fun too... but Steve is opposed to that.

Okay.. enough of the whining.... back to some happy planning. :goodvibes

I thought I should start planning things for each day. As things sit now, we have 8 day MYW tickets. So assuming we have 8 days but not knowing what date will match up with what day AND assuming full days..... here are my thoughts.

Ann, the plans sound great and I like how you have a lot of resorts you are visiting to see the holiday decorations. If you are in fact over on your TS's (I didn't count them), I personally would cut out Boatwright's. We were not impressed with it at all. I would rather eat at their food court which to me is the best one in Disney. Now, this is subject to your not having eaten at Boatwright's and loving it. ;)

And for those who didn't want to do the math....

I think that is a total of 11 TS credits and 13 CS. :lmao: Obviously, I think I need to make some changes. Also, I forgot I wanted to try Kona for breakfast. Hmmm... maybe I can pay oop for some... and some of the breakfasts can be snack credits (all we really need is a pastry) Grrr...and then there are other restaurants like Garden Grill and The Plaza and 1900 Park Fare that I wanted to try... Ack... too little time... too many restaurants.

Thanks, Kathy. I am very over... even if we upgraded to Deluxe... I would be over. :rolleyes1 It is really good that I have several months before I need to start making my ADR's. This is going to take some real work to narrow it down.

As for Boatwrights... it was actually one of my favorites back in September. And since we want to venture here to look at decorations I figured it might be a good match. Lots of time to change my mind on that though.

As for a couple other not sure abouts... the Candle Light Processional Package. It is 2ts no matter where we go...and since Le Cellier is now 2 TS for dinner... I thought it would be a good pick. Course, if we opt to not do the package and just hope for the best with seating then maybe I can go for lunch or throw it out entirely. That would save a credit or two. Also not sure on the MVMCP or the Nemo or Fantasmic packages.

Again... Good thing I have some time!!!

you know i feel the same way about food. there are so many restaurants i want to try but not enough time. however, since we r on the go people we just will stick with qs for now. that could change next week:)

Hiya neighbor-to-the-north! I'm joining in on all the PTR fun here :) DBF and I will be going to the world around the same time as you, right now our dates are the 11th-18th. Its nice to see others from the PNW on the WDW side of the boards!

What didn't you like about the busses at POP? That's were we'll be staying, only because we can't afford a deluxe and it seems SO disney to me! None of the mods really seemed worth the extra $70 a night. I've heard that bus service at POP is great, because it doesn't share with any other resorts.

Looking forward to spending the next 9 months planning with you! :santa:

Even if we were only going to go with qs, I think I would still find a way to make myself nuts with where to go. I mean.. EOS, WGPE, CHH... just to name a few. There are definitely good dinning options at WDW. This is a main reason we fly across the country rather than go just down the coast line. (food choices at DL are not nearly as good. Well, except I do miss Tigger tails. YUMM... caramel, marshmallow, white chocolate that has orange flavored accents. YUMMM)

:wave2: Neighbor to the south! How cool that you are going down in December too! I agree... it is nice to see those from the PNW on this side of the boards. There are few of us though! :goodvibes

As for Pop.. I agree with you..it is VERY Disney...and in most cases I don't think the extra $$ is worth it to stay in a mod. If you want you can go back and read my TR from my September trip... but I will give you (hopefully) a short review.

I LOVE Pop as a resort. It was fun and comfortable. Despite the fact it is a huge resort it NEVER felt like that. We never felt crowded in any main area (well, maybe the food court a bit in the am) So why then would I hesitate to stay there? Yes, the bus situation. Honestly, I think most of my complaints can be attributed to time of year...BUT... there are some aspects that are just a part of what Pop has to offer.

Bus stops:
Pop's are not covered and there is no seating. Guests line up in a queue much like in the parks (without the themeing) The line snakes around and hopefully you don't have to wait for multiple buses as you make your way through the line. (we did end up on multiple occasions waiting on an additional bus as departing buses filled) So... while the need to wait for the next bus may have been due to high volume of guests, the fact that there was not a covered, benched area is just something that is something I didn't like about Pop. Could I get past that? Yes, definitely! Especially when considering the price difference. I would hope that crowds would be lower though to avoid the overcrowded buses.

Pop to Park:
With the except of DHS, each trip was a long one. I am not sure if maybe it seemed longer to to waiting so long at the stops, or if the loading of passengers took longer...but I want to say getting to MK took an hour once. In addition to travel time the actual drop off point (or pick up point) at the park is farther away that for those of the mods or deluxes. Was this something that really got to me? The time it took to get to the park (especially MK) that was frustrating. The time it took to walk to or from the dropoff point...no.

Park to Pop: So basically yes, it was just the reverse... longer walk to the pickup location, longer ride back to hotel. However, almost ALWAYS the bus was so crowded that while standing you almost didn't need to try to stand as your neighbor next to you was just about supporting your weight (except if you were at the very front near the bus driver... that is one bus ride I will NEVER forget). Now, all of the resorts I have stayed at had crowded buses at closing. So I can't totally blame Pop...but Pop did seem to have less buses coming and we did have to wait for more than one bus to come in order to get on one. The other resort buses...we just got on the first one that came even though they were crowded...we still got on. I think if you didn't have a small child...waiting for more buses is not necessarily a problem. I mean if you have stayed till closing what is another half hour, right? It just is problematic when you have tired wee ones and a stroller..and everyone getting cranky around you.

I apologize... I tried to keep that brief. I really do like Pop and ultimately think I would stay there again. I just really wish that we didn't experience such troubles with the buses while we were there. Course... maybe all the resorts had that problem that week. I shouldn't assume it was only Pop. Crowd levels in the parks were quite high...

:wave2: Still here and caught up on your postings and report! Now if I could just get mine caught up... :lmao:

Had to laugh at your ADR plans - I'm in the same boat - regular DDP and have 12 table service meals planned... and my plan will handle 7 of those. :confused3 Oh well.... they will change and change again before final decision, I'm certain!

Your plans sound great though. How are wedding plans? Zach's departure?

So it was gonna happen. We all new it would. Today was the last day before my pin expired and even though it is only good for one additional night, I changed our stay to add 4 more nights.

Now, the cost for those 4 nights is not a lot less that the cost for the first 7. I almost didn't modify the reservation, but the kind cm reminded me I can make as many changes as I like to the reservation. He told me "you just never know what kind of promotions are going to be coming out and if you are already booked it is so much easier to just apply those discounts to existing reservations". So lets cross our fingers...cause I CAN NOT afford the amount that was added. Well, I guess I could afford it.... Being down one person from last years trip makes the total for this trip about the same. I just don't want to PAY that much. I have too many other things I need to put money toward this year... not the least of which is a wedding!!!

Looking at airfare, I am seeing that airfare is likely to cause me to change the dates again since the day we are scheduled to fly out of Seatac is almost twice what it is to fly out on a different day.

Any guesses as to how many more times I make changes to this trip? I guess technically this is number two since we had planned to go down to Sarasota for those 4 nights.

Oh, did I mention this means I would wake up in WDW on my birthday. Ok, so that would be cool... but probably not worth the extra cost. Hmm.. maybe I could get Steve to agree to a split stay. I would feel a whole lot more comfortable with the cost if we did that. Then again, maybe there will be some new fabulous discount that makes it all work. :goodvibes

Glad you are still here! I know I can be a bit boring at times.

As for the TS credits... it is so hard, isn't it? I think ultimately I will take Zoe to character breakfasts and pay out of pocket. I like to be at the park at rope drop. Steve and Alex don't. I foresee several mornings like this. (especially if we stay 11 nights) Course, like you mentioned...plans change and change again. I mean, we have till the end of October for package changes and well... we can ALWAYS be changing around our ADRS.

Wedding plans are really starting to come together. I am actually getting a bit excited at what we have decided on. I had to laugh at Kira though. (sorry daughter) She found another dress she liked. She asked me to give her reasons not to like/want it. I told her two... the first dress we bought and the second. :rotfl: Just how many dresses does one bride need?? ;)

Zach's departure.. just days away. :sad2: I have been saying for the last month or two that I am anxious for him to get moving on. Now I am just sad. I know it is good and will be right for everyone... but... :sad2:

I've never been a mom ready to scoot her kids out the door... I tease about it but deep down don't mean it one bit. Don't tell them that, though! ;)

Big hugs to you and your family and best wishes to Zach! I have a boy or two interested in military service and I would be very proud of them. However, we are years from that happening. To put myself in your shoes, I would be a bucket of tears! Still would be a proud mama but selfishly wanting the kiddos close to home!

Just keep chanting... Disney-Disney-Disney :cheer2: Awesome on the extended stay!!!

What changes you have in your life right now...not including changing plans for WDW :rotfl:.

I admire your son for his willingness to want to serve his country. I only hope that my own 2 boys will make be as proud.

I just had to share the yummy looking holiday treat at the MK I found...I am sad that I will miss it...gingerbread funnel cake with peppermint stick icecream!

Oh, that is yummy sounding! Funny though, I don't think I have ever got a funnel cake in WDW. Maybe I will have to have one of these though!

And thank you for your kind words regarding Zach. He does make me proud. All my kids do in some way... even my full alien (Alex). I just have to work bit harder to find the ways to be proud of him. (Did I mention he is a full alien teen right now???? :rotfl:)

Just checking in on you! Know you have had a lot going on!

Thanks for checkin in on me. It has been a BUSY week. I love my job (for the most part). It is very flexible. Most of the month is great and easy to get through. The first week in the cycle (tasks rotate on a 4 wk cycle) is always the most hectic. Add to that.... Zach had his preshippers brief that he needed a ride too. Zach had a dentist appointment. Alex had an eye appointment. Zoe had a dentist appointment. And today... Zoe has a series of appointments at Children's Hospital. So thank... thank you for the hug. :goodvibes

:lmao: She has two dresses! A girl after my own heart! Glad its bringing some excitement to you all though

To be fair, I picked up a dress I liked. I got it for basically nothing since it was used. Kira looked beautiful in it... and had she not found "her dress" I think would have been fine wearing it. But, at a wedding show we found a dress that was made by the dress shop owner. "One of a kind" and so it is "her" dress. ;)

- I can't imagine how difficult it will be to say goodbye to Zach for a bit. I've never been a mom ready to scoot her kids out the door... I tease about it but deep down don't mean it one bit. Don't tell them that, though! ;)

There are days it gets to me. I love my kids. I have had this rule... I have told them the whole time they were growing up that they could not move more than a few hours from me. Well, Zach will be more than a few hours from me... I try and tell myself it is no different than if he had gone away to college. He can come back and still live close. Which as long as he doesn't deploy overseas...I think he will.

Ultimately, I still have Zoe and she will be with me for quite a while as she is only 6. I can't imagine my life without my kids... and I don't want them out of my life. I just do understand the phrase "God gives us teens so we are ready for them to leave home" (or some variation there of) I couldn't dream of letting go of Zoe. Kira and Zach are on their way. Alex... well, the ship came in the night and sucked up my sweet boy. My little guy who was so much fun. What they left?.. it is some cranky, moody "don't ask me to do anything" alien. I really do want them to come back for.. soon... please??? :confused3

Kira is just like me...I had 2 dresses too! I wore the wedding dress I picked out for the ceremony and the first half of the reception. And then I wore something my mom picked out - completely different style but still completely "me". I think it's wonderful she has 2 dresses as then there are more choices for the big day!

Wow looks like you will be spending a LOT of time at Disney! I think it'll be awesome that you get to spend your birthday at Disney if you do so...nothing quite like it, I bet! I've never spent my actual birthday in Disney but one year I'd love to.
