DH and I always toss the idea around of going to WDW for the holiday's. We know it will be busy- and since we've been so many times we're okay with that. Because if we miss something--we'll see it next time.

Anyhow, I don't even begin to know what would be a good deal for airfare for this season. I know what I usually pay to fly Buffalo---Orlando. We've also always flown Jetblue or Southwest because they have the best deals.

So, as I begin to watch those carriers (well I know I have awhile still for the SW schedule to even appear). What rate would be a good rate for flights. We are thinking of flying out right on Christmas. As I heard this was a good day to fly out, a hair less busy and a hair less expensive.

So, an average flight from here on the 2 carriers I mentioned runs about $99.00 each way. That is an average, non-sale price. So, if I found something for lets say double that each way- is that high or a good deal???

I actually just found out Jetblue isn't even posted through the holiday's--- looks like I can't even peak at what the rates might be like.... :confused3 . Any insight would be great. Driving is going to be an option- if I can't find a decent enough rate.

hi kilee. We have gone several times at this time of year. You are going with the right attitude...also go early leave early and go back later and stay late. We have always used SW and have gotten fares from about 160 to 240 RT. HTH

I'm figuring if I can get airfare for my family of 3 for under $900 then we'll fly- otherwise- it's a road trip for us. Anyone also know about when Jetblue will release their Dec. schedule? I know I'll be waiting quite a bit more for SW's.

My guess on the Jetblue schedule release will be sometime when the SW, Airtran schedules are realeased...

Jetblue always seems to be further ahead on their schedules than SW- so I thought they'd be out first.

Aah- a fellow Western New Yorker- Buffalo here. We are going at Christmas time from 12/12- 12/19 flying out of Buffalo. Right now no airfare is listed for both Southwest and JetBlue for that time frame. They are only listed up until August 3rd- tough wait let me tell you!! Anyways somewhere on a previous post I read that Southwest typically follows the same release history dates every year and they will post December Airfare this coming August. Right now you can fly to Orlando (nonstop- awesome) for 165 per person round trip. To me that is awesome- much cheaper than Delta and it is non-stop. We have flown Delta before and had to stop in Atlanta but now it is Southwest all the way. I just hope prices for December stay the same. Can't wait til August.

right you are lustergirl...last August, 3rd week, I was on vacation in Maine and a friend called to let me know SW had just released Christmas week...thankfully there was a library 5 minutes up the road. I was allowed 15 minutes to purchase tickets then ran to van to call, I had a free ticket and wanted to make sure I was on the same flight as my kids, lol!

I usually pick my travel around the airfare. We'll have a general idea of when we want to go- let's say "sometime in the fall"- then we watch for the best airfare deal for awhile. This really works- because I can tell you- I've only ever paid over $59 each way twice. Once because the whole extended family was going and I couldn't do better than $79/99 each way. The other time- it was so last minute I couldn't find anything under $99 each way.

However, w/ it being the holiday I know we'll have to book early and I'm not going to see these kinds of rates. I am contemplating driving just so I can maybe spend the extra money on the AKL (which has been dh's "dream resort" so the speak).

We too are waiting for Christmas airfare (Dec 16 - Jan 6) out of BUF.
Last year these dates were released mid August (Southwest) so hopefully this year will be similar.
I just love the Southwest non-stop flights that we flew on last year.

I found on Northwest, r/t non-stop out of Indy to MCO for $177/each. We're traveling December 28, 2006 - January 5, 2007.

We fly over Christmas all the time. Jetblue will not be giving anything away.I would expect to see JB between 229 & 299 each way for BUF/MCO. We fly out of NYC and because of Jetblue always very high we usually go Delta or American. I would be ready to grab SW flight as soon as they come out. There are never any bargains around the holidays. This year I was luckly to get Delta nonstop from MCO/LGA for 79( booked at the 331 day mark) one way. As long as Delta keeps flying the route I will be fine.
Keep in mind that hotels are expensive as well as car rentals. This is going to be our 8th  :lmao: trip over Christmas and with all the crowds and extra expense we love it
