The wife and I are planning on surprising our kiddos with a trip to Disney as a Christmas gift this year. We know it will be busy, and we have looked at pricing...We are planning to book soon. Doing the 26-31! We are going to do a package...

Anything special that you all would pass along to us? Neither of us have been in 20+ years. We are also hoping that our families are going to decide to join us!

Please share anything we may need to do. Our twins will be 11 (both boys) and our youngest will be 3.

Thanks for any help!

Only you and your family know how well you deal with lines and crowds, but do yourself a favor and google image search for disney crowd pictures from this past chistmas/new year. It was not just crowded, it was insanely crowded. I believe that I heard that it was a 40minute wait just to get your carry-in bag inspected. Some of the parks closed due to capacity. Just the pictures from this year were enough to convince my wife that we're never going over Christmas break.

We've been going every year over Christmas and I love it. If you can go earlier, it's a little better as it gets busier leading up to New Years. Yes, it's insanely crowded but if you do your homework, get to the parks early, use FP wisely and bring a big bag of patience you can have a great time. It really is a magical place at Christmastime! Just be sure to keep your expectations realistic -- this is not the time to see and do everything, more like hit the highlights and soak up the atmosphere.

Thanks guys! We are excited and understand that it will be crowded. That is why I wanted to get as much information as I could about it.

We understand the crowds, and such...Looking for any pointers. Going early and staying late are easy for us...So we would take advantage of that.

Thanks again!

Make sure you plan at least 1 ADR a day so you have a place to escape the crowds while eating. Also stay onsite and plan some resort time. Maybe half a day here or there or mid-day breaks to enjoy the pool or amenities. The 11-year-olds will likely enjoy swimming even if it's chilly. :thumbsup2

We went for Thanksgiving week this year. We did the Christmas candlelight processional dinner package and loved it. That week was really busy but we were there for park opening and got alot done, then went back in the afternoon and used our fastpass plus rides and had dinner in the parks (book an adr for each day!). We did leave the park midday for a break and to have a break from the crowds. You will have such an awesome time!
