Matty's christening is this afternoon and I was planning on giving the priest/church a thank you card with a donation in it. Is this O.K.? I don't attend church on a regular basis so I thought I should do this. What would be a good amount? 50? Too little, too much?
Thanks!

Kim

Of course I will post pictures later!

Is the christening going to be outside of a regular service? I know that in our church, a wedding or a funeral, typically not part of a regular service, the priest is paid extra. For a wedding it is around $100. Same for a funeral. I would think that $50 would be fine if nothing was discussed in advance. Have a great time. I love christenings/baptisms!!

Is there someone in the congregation that you would feel comfortable asking? I am the secretary at our church, and have had lots of questions like this. Perhaps you could seek out the secretary there and ask. God bless you on this special day!

In some churches this is something the godparents take care of. However, I don't think it would be inappropriate for you to make a donation as well. Congratulations and best wishes on a wonderful day :D .
